Zimbabwe is calling for white farmers to return home. They are being offered 99 year leases to return repair the mess that agriculture became after the thug Mugabe took over, and whites had to flee before they were murdered.

As Rhodesia, with Smith leading, the country was a rich food bowl. Now, the inhabitants can barely feed themselves.

It's a big ask of course. I wouldn't think that farmers who have made lives for themselves in Australia and other safe countries would have forgotten the 2,000 farms which were snatched from their owners and handed to black 'veterans' (terrorists); nor would they brush off the brutal murders of white farmers as something to think about.

I bought a car from the wife of a Rhodesian farmer. They had come here so she could feel safe. He had set up a successful business in Oz.

He had gone back part time to run the old farm, but had advised her it was not yet a place for her. His son had no intension of going, & was happy running the Oz business.

Thanks for the first hand information, hasbeen. Hopefully the invitation will not be taken up by many. I wouldn't trust anyone in that country. The new regime might have been more believable if they had actually punished Mugabe. Instead, they are going to allow him to spend what is left of his miserable life in the same luxury as he has always enjoyed.
