andicee,

Since you may have other questions as well, as a first points of call,

http://shootersunion.com.au/contact/

and/or

Queensland SSFP
Postal: PO Box 241, Caboolture QLD 4510
Telephone:Jacob Fernance (Secretary) 0401 410 950
Email: jfernance@sff.net.au

What you need to do is give the Weapons Licensing a ring, because they can get a bit behind. The burden of all of that bureaucratic paperwork affects all. It is always a sore point too for people who only joined the force to collar criminals.

If you have anything you might like to talk with others about, it is a truism that you need to be on sites where they are to be found. A LandCruiser owners site for people who know the vehicle, for example and to take another instance, camping interest sites for that recreation.

As with everything to do with government, don't let the grass grow under your fee. Get onto it now!

It is pleasing that you are one of the many thousands of good citizens who are doing the right thing. All of the very best to you.

Should be, "As with everything to do with government, don't let the grass grow under your feet.

-Although 'fee' is probably more relevant. Because as is typical where politicians are involved, John Howard's so-called 'initiatives' introduced a broad range of new
and high taxes (and the bureaucratic paperwork) on the thousand of reputable citizens he unfairly demonised and trashed and apparently still does.

For the ill-informed, one needs a licence to shoot regularly with a club, one does not need to own a firearm.

Nice too that a first-time poster gets insulted in the second reply to his post, must be a first for OLO.

Hi there ANDICEE...

I'd add my own support to what others herein have said, licensing people do get overwhelmed with the various applications, additions, and variations. Usually the bulk of the paper-work is handled by Public Service staff, whereas the actual approvals, denial's, or any other major variation to licensing conditions, are determined by police officers themselves.

All applications are dealt with and checked by PS staff. The actual approval itself is done, after these checks have been completed, under the signature of a police officer. Whereby if something irregular does occur, it's not the member of the PS staff who is asked to account for it, it's the approving police officer that must provide the answers, as it should be.

I trust we've all been some help to you, ANDICEE.

Welcome Andy,
Your request for info re firearms licencing is not that unusual as a long term poster I can assure you there is a vast range of subjects raised here.

For those that question you as to 'why' you want to renew your licence, it is none of their business. I too am a licence holder but presently do not own firearms. I can see many reasons for this.

You may have thought asking here was the quickest way to get the required info. That is fair enough as there are many with experience in all sorts of fields here. There is one poster called Is Mse, who is knowledgeable about firearms and am sure he will help you out. Hang about, he will not be far away. My knowledge of Qld bureaucracy is limited.

Come on Issy, thin skined, there is nothing insulting in ttbn's post. Just posted an opinion which he is entitled to do. He only drew a conclusion from the unusual nature of a new members post and the fact "Andy" started off with a discussion thread, which this site has nothing to do with. If he returns he can post a reply.
