I'd not wish to be in the shoes of any American President, when needing to deal with North Korea's Kim Jong -Un and his band of granite-faced Generals. To think this pudgy, corpulent individual with his unique North Korean hairstyle, has his hand on a Nuclear trigger, is utterly terrifying in my opinion. And other than completely capitulating and yielding, totally to his will, it would seem nothing else other than war, will stop him from further testing his arsenal of ICBM's and other toys of mass distruction it would seem?

Seemingly only China, has the wherewithal to stop this bloke from further testing his weapons - why haven't they? Are they waiting until the world is right on the brink of a Nuclear war before they'll come to the party? I reckon we're almost there. If not we're so close it doesn't matter a lot, I think?

A nuclear war is almost inevitable and can now happen at any time.

The only thing that could stop it at this late stage, is an agreement between America and China whereby America agrees for China to step in and invade North Korea. In return, China would ask to annex North Korea - and America should accept this condition.

But will Trump be a good businessman in this instance?

We shall soon find out.

But nuclear war is far from inevitable. Kim Jong Un obviously wants something, so there is obviously scope for talks despite what Trump's tweeted.

And sooner or later Kim Jong Un will die, and his successor's almost certain to be more reasonable.

I don't think that we have much to worry about.

Eliminating business with China would be a tremendous
blow to the US economy and would send retail prices

about $64 billion in business with the US. Pakistan,
Russia, Thailand, Philippines all do tens of millions
of dollars in business annually with North Korea.

Even major US trade partners such as France, Mexico,
Brazil and Chile do business with North Korea.

Cutting off trade with all these countries would be
virtually impossible and economically catastrophic for
the US and could potentially trigger a global recession.

How on earth can anyone take what this man says and tweets
seriously.

Those countries that trade with N Korea should seriously think about who they are supporting!

I'm pretty sure right now (US time) the Joint Chief of Staffs are holding an emergency meeting in regards to NK in preparation for an emergency UN meeting tomorrow. I've got a hunch US will do something soon, rather than let him develop his weapons further.
The inside word is that Kim's modified his warheads to carry those H-bombs which are likely right now being fitted to his ICBM's.
This will likely turn real ugly, real fast.

It's said that Edward VIII who abdicated had a face that was "un-lived in" , without expression or definition, which is like Kim Jong Un with baby-smooth , bland features. Both seem unable to deal with life in a responsible way , as if remote from reality, maybe a form of autism. Kim may abdicate North Korea's existence taking a lot of adults with him.

Obviously ICBMs can't be hidden as Sadam hid his little missiles. I'm sure the US knows where to hit with their much greater firepower.

The elimination of North Korea would be relative easy, but may not be too good for those in close proximity, South Korea & Japan. Never the less, it may have to be done.

Perhaps it would be better to declare Kim Jong Un an international terrorists, & take him out with a drone strike. Those with more knowledge of North Korean politics should know how his generals would react. They may be too busy fighting each other, trying to take over the asylum to strike back, or want to strike back. Hard to tell with madmen.

We could have a real problem with fuel shipments from Singapore, which is a probable result of serious action. With our ridiculous importation of our liquid fuel requirements policy we have put ourselves in a dangerous position. Perhaps, but only perhaps, this may be a wake up call for our politicians, I can't call them leaders.

a missile at America he would be toast pretty soon after.

He's not above lobbing one across Japan or over to Australia though. Just a show of sabre rattling I think. Probably part of the extreme paranoia he displays.

As Rowan Callick writes in The Australian today, a military solution is out of the question, unless 'we' want to waste Seoul and its ten million inhabitants. Trump may not have the wits to know this, but I hope that Mattis and McMaster and Kelly and Tillotson do. Hopefully they've packed their bags for Beijing, to sit there and wait for Kim Jong-Un to join them in negotiations.

So what else to do ? Does anybody think that a military conflict would stop at the two Koreas ? Insane.

Then what does Trump do ? Orders that any companies trading with North Korea in any way will be barred from trading with the US. There goes both South Korea and China, maybe Japan, maybe Europe, mzaybe Russia. Beauty, Don.

Then, not to be out-done even by himself, he starts to slag South Korea. Well, Don, they're there, you're not. Maybe they don't read the same comics as Trump does, perhaps they approach these incredibly complex issues as if they are in the actual world. Like we are.
