GetUp! claims to have helped 20,000 members switch from Australia’s “dirtiest” electricity retailers to green energy by referring them to a rival company Powershop promoting it as “backed by a 100 per cent ­renewable energy company”.(for which it gets $100 per person =$2m), des­pite the Powershop admitting it has no idea where its power comes from. Powershop / Meridian ­Energy buys electricity from the national power grid in the same way as its “dirty” competitors.

GetUp! has used the $2m — about $100 for each member ­referred — to campaign against Powershop competitors Energy­Australia, AGL, and Origin, which GetUp! calls “the dirty three”.

At very least this far left wing activist group needs to be referred to the ACCC for false and misleading advertising or at worst outright fraud.

There is no such thing as "renewable energy" - that would contradict the laws of thermodynamics!

I know that this is hard for you to follow, but we both agree that the energy sold by Powershop / Meridian ­Energy and the others is exactly the same energy. Also that while PS generates renewable energy it sells all its credits, so their energy is no cleaner or greener than anyone else'.

The point is that Getup while posing as an independent party is promoting PS and rubbishing its competitors for a fat fee, it is doing so without any basis in fact, and without letting its members know that it is paid to do so.

So essentially not only is Getup falsely acting as an independent agent, but it is also lying through its teeth about PS and the others.

Well we can be sure that the con men amongst us will do very well, while ever there are people as gullible as Paul, to be parted from their money.

The Liberal party has lost all credibility. At least with the Greens/Labour we know they could not care about detroying this country. Abbott should of had the guts to act or not act on the fact that ' man made global warming is c-ap' . He lost his nerve and allowed the regressives to continue down the socialist path of making Australia a place where electricity is very expensive. As usual the regresiives have been allowed to create a massive mess and can now only blame those who warned against such a mad path decades ago.
