As far as I'm aware, Catholic Care has nothing to do with the story. Tony Lavis, like you, has a problem with Catholicism, and he just 'bet' they were involved. Still, I suppose there are always Catholic-haters out there who will use any opportunity to display their dislike for any Christian denomination. Never see them stepping up to the plate to criticise Islam, though.

You shouldn't worry too much about the money the Catholics get 'given' to them (do you actually know that they are 'given' money? If you know, how much is it annually? You won't like the tax breaks give to the Salvos either, I suppose.

Whatever is given to charities, religious or not, be thankful for it. They are helping politicians to cop out, and they spend the money much more wisely than politicians and goverment departments do.

ttbn - Seems like you read something but fail to comprehend what you have read on some occasions I am not Catholic hating.

The issue is about charities I know and have seen enough of there activities or lack of, as opposed to how they do financial statements for public consumption. Also the large salary and perks of the management and how they make it appear less than it is on a proportional basis when compared to receipts of donations.

"Seems like" you ignored the subject of my post, which had nothing to do with charities, and allowed yourself to be baited by TL's mention of 'Catholic'. As far as I know, the institution in question is not Catholic, and is not a charitable one.

However, I completely agree with your views on the 'charities' of today. They are businesses, some are BIG businesses, providing very lucrative incomes for a few executives. What proportion of their takings ever reaches supposed beneficiaries is anyone's guess. World Vision comes immediately to mind, with its sanctimonious, demanding and very well paid, ex-pastor. So well is it operated, that one of its also well paid executives managed recently to cream off a goodly sum of the takings to an Islamic terrorist mob.

But, the business of charities is another subject that many, I'm sure, would be interested in if you raised it for discussion. In the meantime, none of these buggers can, or should, get a red cent from any of us.

I have learned more about this. The operator of the aged care home, is in fact, the Catholic Vincent de Paul charity. If it goes through, it will be over the heads of 70-80 aged people waiting for aged care. One for Philip S.

Someone claimed that residents were in favour. Management did meet with residents, some dementia patients, but families of the residents were not allowed. The families have been active on social media.

To compound the rotteness, the Andews government changed the law which stipulates that residents must be 65 years or over so that the refugees could be housed.

My Dad who is 85years old and is having some memory problems
and can no longer maintain his house and yard, rang around all the
aged care homes to find an assisted living home.

There were no vacancies he was told.
This is a man who paid taxes to this country all his life.

If the politicians are allowing the scarce resources and housing for
85years olds to be given to refugees, then its a bloody disgrace.
If you cant look after your old granddads and grandmothers first,you
cant afford to spend money trying to save the world.

Maybe the world could save itself with less overpopulation.
