As far as I'm aware, Catholic Care has nothing to do with the story. Tony Lavis, like you, has a problem with Catholicism, and he just 'bet' they were involved. Still, I suppose there are always Catholic-haters out there who will use any opportunity to display their dislike for any Christian denomination. Never see them stepping up to the plate to criticise Islam, though.
You shouldn't worry too much about the money the Catholics get 'given' to them (do you actually know that they are 'given' money? If you know, how much is it annually? You won't like the tax breaks give to the Salvos either, I suppose.
Whatever is given to charities, religious or not, be thankful for it. They are helping politicians to cop out, and they spend the money much more wisely than politicians and goverment departments do.
