As a free public service this info is delivered in your face:

Greek tradition came to Australia about 700 years ago. Images can't be posted here but Greek statues show Zeus as an eagle . Greek Egypt had a coin of Zeus eagle holding a thunderbolt , a bar with 3 points either end. He is the planet Jupiter and the eagle is Aquila "eagle" constellation. A Roman "aquilifer" was the soldier who carried this eagle for his legion.

Indo-Greeks ruled parts of north India for over 3 centuries and one king raised a pillar with Garuda eagle in central India. Garuda of Aquila stars carries Vishnu created by Guru "dyaus pita" (like "dios petr" Zeus / Jupiter) of planet Jupiter. Indra created by Guru carries thunderbolts, a bar with 3 points each end.. Garuda owns an airline in Indonesia and he and Indra have statues in Bali. Indo Greeks were in Bali 2000 years ago according to Kharosthi script found on gold rings and pottery.

A king escaped from Java in 1222 and Bundjalung people of north NSW remember that a boat arrived. A skull dated late 1200s at Bourke has a sword-cut not made by mulga-wood blades. At Melbourne, Bunjil eagle is father of the people and is Aquila stars with 2 swans his wives. Zeus became a swan to seduce Leda a man's wife and she is in Cygnus stars next to Aquila stars. Bunjil's campfire is planet Jupiter. He threw a star at lawless people at Warrandyte , "dyte" is "star" as in Yorta Yorta "duta" and Kulin "durrt" in Victoria. Old Javanese "dyuti" is from Sanskrit "dyuti" meaning "shining sky , heavenly body" as in "dyaus pita" Zeus.

Bunjil is a stone inlay in Melbourne Catholic Cathedral and a statue in Docklands . Greek Australia.

Secret women's (funny) business with some 'Indo-Greeks' 700 years ago? Sacred sites to be claimed?

Or was that in NSW?

Indigenous history is so fresh and new, just minted.

Indo Greeks 2000 years ago. Zeus and Garuda eagle appear to be combined in Indonesia by Javanese who are not Greek. Java had big boats 700 years ago as shipwrecks recently proved.

Sembiran and Pacung on the north coast of Bali - Cambridge Journals
journals.cambridge.org/article_S0003598X14000453
by A Calo - ‎2015
New archaeological research at Sembiran and Pacung in 2012 .... However, three out of the ten gold rings resemble a Cambodian gold ring inscribed with a horseman motif, confirmed to be non-Southeast- Asian, based on its composition. The Cambodian ring resembles inscribed gold, copper and bronze rings typical of Saka-Parthian (first century AD) in the Taxila region of Pakistan . A Bali potsherd inscribed with characters in Kharoshthi script , found in 1989, also implies links with the Taxila region.

A 2016 thesis tested the sword-cut on a skull dated late 1200s at Bourke .

" I have received the following comment from the writer: " The aim of the experiments were to determine whether traditional Aboriginal weapons could have caused trauma similar to that of the Toorale skull. Unfortunately our methods did not produce trauma,.. "

That error above is "1st century AD". But there's more:

In about the 1st century BCE or 1st century CE, an Indo-Scythian king named Azilises had three mints, one of which was at Taxila, and struck coins with obverse legends in Greek and Kharosthi. Taxila was taken from Parthians by Kushans under Kujula Kadphises ( 30-80 CE). Coins bear the name of Kujula Kadphises in Kharosthi;, with representations of the Greek demi-god Heracles (Hercules) on the back.
Vima Takto was his son. ( 80–90 CE).
Obv: Bust of Vima Takto, with Greek royal headband and radiate, holding sceptre; three-pronged tamgha behind.
Rev: Mounted king with Greek royal headband, holding a sceptre. Three-pronged tamgha; corrupted Greek legend "Basileu Basileon Sotir Megas": "The King of Kings, Great Saviour".

Having read the previous posters opinions, here's another one to ponder Nick.

In the early 1980's whilst on an army exercise/course, our group came across an archaeologist in the bush near Collie WA. He showed us some skulls & human remains he had found (excavated from nearby caves). His evaluation of the sites were that they predated the Spanish/Dutch/English explorations of the 15th - 18th centuries and were: " ...many hundreds of years older...".

When he elaborated on his findings and theory, it suggested a race of 'white skinned' folk who from the evidence, had been killed off by local aborigines. Their cave resting place being the "last stand", so to speak.

After returning to barracks I went to the WA Museum people, then to the local Nyoongar representatives who point blank denied any knowledge of such legends or stories in their culture.

Very likely as the currents from India take ships to WA as Dutch sailors found out. However , from your words it's hard to see how he picked skin colour or age. But certainly there is pressure to delete incorrect discoveries. The dating of the Toorale skull was supposed to be 19th century , the 13th century was "impossible" for a sword injury so it's all ignored now by the academics who have custody.

Hi Thomas
The quote is in 3rd person. "Your face" is 2nd person , plural in effect but singular "you" meaning each reader. However, only a few read OLO , so the plural is not very large. But as a member of the plural yourself is included collectively as well as subjectively and being on the net it is notionally available to unlimited viewers. Then the plural 2nd person is much larger than the aggregate 2nd person singular who actually read the stuff . Probably it can't be in 2nd singular without such a person having read it . I can explain this in more detail when i have the time. And of course it resembles a commercial offer to sell a product which may be to all plural or not as the case may be.

G'day Nick, as for the "shipwrecks" along the WA coast. There are many more to be found I'm sure...Greek, Dutch, Chinese...even read an article a few years ago that suggested the Phoenicians had set up a sea port complete with breakwater and harbour somewhere near Mackay (Qld) - later proven to be a hoax.

I was at one time in my life, involved with the 'Duyfken' Project and saw the successful return of the 'Batavia' relics to the newly built Geraldton Regional Museum.

Not far from where I was living in the NT for a while, a young lad found an old bronze cannon on the beach. See: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/opinion/christopher-doukas-13-finds-16th-century-portugese-swivel-gun-on-northern-territory-beach/story-e6frfhk6-1226241904600

Gavin Menzies: '1492' who asserts that China's vast fleets sailed the Seven Seas, later disproven by "scholars. But who is to say, that like the missing Scriptures and Disciples of Jesus, the greatest con artists of all - the Church, have not likewise conveniently lost/destroyed/etc whatever evidence that could substantiate those theories ?

Although the languages are divided into 2 groups with the southwest corner being separate , one word seems to be standard across the land.
Ngurra /ngara means "the Law. elders' campsite. to hear and learn. initiated men " and so on. Ngurra Law in the north is being promoted by Darwin Uni. In Goldfields WA ngurra means "a mechanism for laws and customs to connect a person with place".
The Bali Indonesia negara is "a ceremonial order of precedence on a band of sovereigns" in ritual Hindu state government. Indian nagara means the temple city and a style of temple.
The negara king in Bali gave prosperity to his realm as a 'negurah' guardian of land as territory of people who measured royal divinity by ceremony.

Nick, if your interested about the greeks travels, many stayed behind who ought with Alexander the great, and they settled in Tibet and influenced the Buddhists there. u may already know that of course.

and if it wasn't for the various middle east scholars, and later muslim scholars who saved many greek texts science geometry maths and astronomy later to share that with curious people like Copernicus and many others there's a big chance the Renaissance and enlightenment periods would never have happened when they did.

The other thing is the best yeeros n chips in sydney are on illawarra rd marrickville - kalispera :-)

They did and in 2nd century BC a Greek Buddhist master travelled to Sri Lanka with many monks.

" Silver coins issued by Augustus and Tiberius have over a period of time been discovered in large numbers from the Coimbatore-Karur region ( south India).
.. These coins exhibit similarities with the Roman coins of emperors Augustus and Tiberius; like the Roman coins, the portraits on the Makkotai series do not show any jewellery on the king.
A Chera coin with the portrait of a king wearing a Roman helmet was discovered from Karur. The obverse side of the silver coin has the portrait of a king, facing left, wearing a Roman-type bristled-crown helmet. This coin may belong to the 1st century BC and may be earlier to Makkotai and Kuttuvan Kotai coins. The coin points to Romans having had trade contacts with the Chera kings and establishes that the Roman soldiers had landed in the Chera country to give protection to the Roman traders who had come there to buy materials."

The ceramics found in Bali Indonesia came from this time and region. The trade was spices and Chinese silk and souvenir boomerangs from Marrickville Land Rights Council.

Lovely Greek Tragedy. They came, they conquered. Then they got lazy and just sat at the side of the billabong for 690 years.
When Captain Cook spoke to the local aboriginals he mentioned Homer and they said in Greek with a local accent ."Yes our ancestors told us the same story".
It reminds me of the Elgin Marbles story.
The Earl of Elgin in 1803 could see that the local Turkish people living around the Parthenon were slowly removing all the marble under the sand drift that covered most of the hill. Realising that ancient Greek history was gradually being destroyed. He removed the Marbles for posterity. So in 700 years time the Greeks can still see their preserved history in LONDON.
My blonde daughter said she had a DNA ancestry test. She told me after spending some money . She had traces of African DNA.
Oh!. Please what other myths will we be told.

Yes you got it. Greek marble in UK , Greek gold rings and ceramics in Bali. They say they found Chinese porcelain from Roman times in the mud of the Thames river. Capt Cook had a wooden boat , no myth.

Hi Brock,

Well, there's two to start with:

* the Chinese sailed the southern seas, over many centuries. Well, just the 1420s actually, then the Emperors had the maps torn up. The Chinese/Mongol/Manchu empires were never maritime, so traders from elsewhere went to Chinese ports and transported goods to and from them from and to all parts of south-east Asia from India across perhaps to PNG, and certainly to and from the Philippines. All of the SE-Asian empires, Sri Vijaya, Madjapahit, Champa, Ayuttiya, Khmer, etc. were trading empires, therefore maritime. China wasn't.

* the Arab goat-herders swept out of the desert and conquered vast swathes of civilized countries - and uncivilized countries, such as the goat-herders in north-west Africa. In Spain, established monasteries and school had long traditions of transcribing ancient texts: Christian and Jewish scholars continued the tradition against their far less educated Berber overlords after the invasion in 712: eight hundred years of the dead hand of Muslim oppression. So what happened to all that mythical 'Muslim scientific flowering' afterwards ? How far did it spread across the Muslim world ? Into every corner ? Was the Ottoman Empire as renowned for its science and maths as Christian Constantinople had been ?

Yes, perhaps Austronesians taught Arab seamen the innovations of a double rudder, front and back, to greatly assist tacking. Otherwise, what seamanship would desert Arabs bring to the table ?

Nick and Thomas, please try to keep it real.

Joe

Did Java have ships able to reach east Australia?

" Yes, as demonstrated in recent shipwreck recoveries of Indonesian ships in the Java Sea. You can bring these up on-line -- under Java Sea shipwrecks." _ K Hall.

Kenneth R. Hall, 'Indonesia's Evolving International Relationships In The Ninth To Early Eleventh Centuries: Evidence From Contemporary Shipwrecks.

The earliest evidence of the presence of Bajo in Sulawesi is the mention of a people called Bajo Sereng (Moluccan Bajo) in the major narrative epic from South Sulawesi — the La Galigo cycle (Pelras 1996: 74). This reference apparently relates to the role Bajo may have played in relations between the maritime powers of South Sulawesi and the Moluccas. According to Pelras, this text probably dates from the fourteenth century, at the time of the dominant kingdom of Luwu". (Stacey. 2007: 10). Their voyages began in fourth century and included sailing to Madagascar off Africa's coast . ( Ring, Salkan and La Boda. 1996).

Yes Coedes wrote about king Kertajaya of Kadiri Java who escaped from his Hindu and Buddhist priests when Ken Arok attacked with his magic kris sword. The king , whose navy had been sailing to west Papua, "disappeared without trace" and went to devalaya "land of gods".
Kris swords were made of meteorite iron alloy and evidently one was used at Bourke in late 1200s ( ANU). A corroborree in NSW 1830s used twigs with Buddhist names representing vajra daggers also made of meteorite iron. The eagle deity of Melbourne threw a star at lawless people and remembered as a meteorite. It was a"dyte" like Yorta Yorta language "duta" and "Kulin durt" meaning a star. Old Javanese "dyuti" means a heavenly body .
