Please share your opinions on best roofing materiel which is durable and cost effective both in terms of maintenance and implementation.

Galvanized corrugated iron.

Agree with Is Mise, but go 'Colorbond' to ensure acceptance by neighbours and likely building approval requirements.

I prefer 'Klip Lok' Colorbond for durability, but it may not suit the look of some domestic applications.

Whatever you do, choose a simple hipped roof with enough fall and adequate guttering+downpipes for downpours. Because extra valleys give rise to additional cost, sealing and maintenance problems (eg leaf collection).

If you are ever to be interested in solar water heating and/or solar panels, think now about whether the roof design will lend itself to that.

Is Mise what have you been doing for the last 50 years a Rip Van Winkle, "Galvanized corrugated iron" indeed! 'Colorbond', and the Aussie product, not the cheap Chinese import.

Hi I know about GI sheets, they are not completely corrosion resistant.
Guys what about TPO roofing, I heard that is an Eco friendly material.
