Two hours into a flight to Europe a flight attendant noticed that a passenger looked ill, and having basic first aid recognised the signs of a heart attack.

Quickly she informed the pilot, then over the intercom asked the passengers "Is there a doctor on board?"

A passenger near the back raised his hand "Can I help? I'm a vegan!"

Sadly neither Lee Lin of SBS nor you guys see the offence in Aust Day and Boomerang. If say a Hindu ad showed dogs eating a kangaroo and saying "get the Ausies and dogs off meat and eat vegie" , wouldn't there be howls of mad rage?

I for one would be in a mad rage, if there are any kangaroos to be eaten it has to be mine up the dog.

It seems unlikely - I don't think anybody would take an ad encouraging canines to go vegetarian seriously (except maybe vegans because they take everything way too seriously). For one thing, a dog wouldn't be able understand it. Even if they could, they're unlikely to embrace vegetarianism because they're carnivores - a vegetarian canine would wind up sick as a dog.

The local friendly mosque says women should this and that and people start barking about Oz way of life. Hindus are serious about veg and very serious about cows. So the parallel is not so silly. Dogs are offended at being compared with postmen and often it's not nice to call a man a dog , or a woman (or man) a bitch. A vegan ad in India saying Oz are dogs would be bad news.
