That is very inaccurate. There was a lot of deforestation when Europeans first settled in Australia, but that was a very long time ago. And AIUI there are even some parts of Queensland that are forested now but weren't 200 years ago.

At present there is no mass deforestation and most of our forests are protected in some way. Where timber is harvested it is replanted. Admittedly there are problems with the way it's harvested and replanted degrading the quality of the forests in some areas, particularly in Tasmania. But we're certainly not running out of forests.
