579>> Turnbull’s innovation will create wealth, and reducing coal and other pollutants will clear the air.

There is an upturn in employment at the moment so that looks positive. Consumerism is the best it has been for 2 years, so people have warmed to Turnbull which all looks very positive.<<

Yes the left and the ABC certainly see Turnbull as a positive .Beware of the left praising the right.........

The most positive circumstances for some time, surely that has to be good. The ABC tries to find accountability no matter if it’s the left ,right or Conservative. The Conservatives certainly does not like being questioned. They say its offensive and biased in what way has never been stated.
Turnbull has been there for 3 months and the situation has improved with confidence and direction. You could say Abbott’s lumberjacks have been culled or quelled, and now we are in a positive cycle.
Hopefully the turbine manufacturers will return, after being squeezed out and get on with the business of renewable energy. We need large scale solar projects, while roof top systems are progressing well. One old coal fired plant in vic and SA coal power generation will cease operation.
Coal has had its day as a power generation fire, and to do nothing is not an option. We have had enough of trust me politics we must be informed of where we are headed and our best option now is Turnbull.

579, while i understand Turnbuls popularity is on a high, we shouldnt forget Rudds rise to fame when he took over from Howard, and he ended up being all hot air, so lets hope Turnbul doesnt turn out to be the same.

No matter what we do, there are several crucial differences between now, and when Rudd took office, some being, a plummeting set of numbers (gov revenue), a huge debt that we can not repay and a major train wreck coming in the form of the closure of our car industries, and this could well see hundreds of thousands of jobs lost which will take account of any minor increases recently seen in employment.

As for renewable s, i fear this will be like the recent CSG boom in QLD, where it caused a classic boom and bust while the infrastructure was being built, only to have the entire industry all but fall flat on its face.

I liken this to renewables because once built, where are the ongoing jobs going to come from? At least with the likes of coal, there are dozens of job creating links in the supply chain and few of these exist on an ongoing basis in renewables.

Having the cleanest greenest planet will be fast forgotten if there is mass unemployment. What we should be focusing on is how to deal with carbon, as opposed to how to drastically reduce it and this is where innovation should come in. But as ive said, first we must remove the barriers.

In the old days every kid lit rockets and bungers on Cracker night to blow up parliament. (Things change , now it's men with beards who do it).
That's the new fuel. Carbon is chemically a Metal, like hydrogen, and ....metals. (Oxygen is non-metal which is reassuring). Guess which Lucky Country has iron and aluminium?

Which ever path we choose to go down, we must consider long term sustainable jobs because unless we have secure jobs market, whats the benefit.

The other factor to consider is that we are a very resource rich nation, and if we don't take the resources, someone else just might.

War equipment is the boom industry and coal dust is excellent explosive. Look at mine accidents , fantastic wall of fire and blast.
We could fill mines with Iranian oil at $31 barrel and they can get rid of people with wrong religion. Then give Saudi Arabia the same deal to balance the books.
