So here we have the likes of Bill Shorten blaming the libs for the loss of full time jobs and the instability of workers with regards to their job security.

Since the 90's labor governments have implemented the likes of unfair dismissal laws, strengthened when they regained power, rediculous penalty rates in certain sectors, despite industry demand changes and redundancy payouts when employees have to be retrenched.

While all these may seem like reasonable safety nets for the employee, the reality is they are all deterents for employers to want to employ workers, especially in the likes of permernant full time positions.

The hypocrisy of Labor to implement these, then lay the blame on the current government for the recent changes in employment.

How typical!

Butch here you go again with your ideal world where the employer such as yourself is king and the worker is little better than a slave with his begging bowel in hand. Self interest is a great motivator. How we long for the good old days of serfdom to return.

A typical far right wing Conservative rant. The year is 2015 not 1990 . Abbott demolished jobs by the hundreds of thousands to suit his failing economy crap.

Unemployment is stuck at 6.2 %. The worst for 10 Years. And all you can see is it’s Labor’s fault.

By this time next year there is going to be mass unemployment from the auto makers and manufactures. Without intervention, unemployment is programmed to double. And then we will have twice as many bludgers on the dole as you would say.

Ridiculous penalty rates in certain sectors. That is a centralized concern from invested parties. There is a lot of arguments against any changes to the system as is. It is too one sided.
Bill made any more fictitious announcements lately. Even SM couldn’t defend that one.

Abbott is languishing and spitting dummies on the back bench. Turnbull is in charge, what took so long Labor told you who was the best man for the job 2 years ago but no your sense of direction was out of control. Abbott fixed your red tape problems and you are still winging.

We have the best team at the helm right now, with Mal and Bill in charge who could go wrong, this is a powerful govt; the best in more than two years. We can now settle in for sustainability and no instability for quite some time into the future. A vote for Mal is a vote for Labor, thank heavens the previous shemozzle was bought to an end.

No early morning reading to see which foot Abbott had in his mouth, you were warned, but no you had to go your way. Now you are best advised to take notice of a professional team to run this great nation.

Climate change, wind , solar , wave, power are all major jobs that need urgent attention. Australia needs to go it alone and put Climate Change into Legislation as a priority, and create Tens of thousands of jobs.

Bendigo has got 1000 Hawkeye vehicles to build and Adelaide will have 20 subs.

As usual Paul you have missed my point, that being, how hypocritical of labor to have implemented the job crushing IR laws then lay blame on the libs.

When are these fools going to realize that for every action, there is a reaction.

As an example, if there is a decline in women in the workforce (full time positions) il bet if labor are in power at the time they will blame the libs, yet the real cause will be maternity leave.

I know a young lass who worked for a bank, went on ML and decided after the three months were up that she would not return. No real issues there for her, but, the bank had to hold her position open just in case, and her replacement didn't know if they had a full time job so even if they had been a better worker, the bank could have lost them because their hands were tied.

So Paul, I'm not saying workers shouldn't have what they have, although I am against parts of the unfair dismissal laws and maternity leave, but people must understand that any beneficial changes they receive may come at a cost, the cost to today's worker is uncertainty, brought about by casualization and insecurity in their jobs, brought about mainly through Labors IR changes.

There are very few set for life jobs left nowadays.

How does one enter into a thirty year home loan when they have a contracted job with an expiery date, a very common arrangement in today's work environment.

Perhaps this has a lot to do with the housing affordability crisis because banks are reluctant to lend when uncertainty is involved.

It's not rocket science, but to blame others is just hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy is what it is. Unfair dismissal laws need to be in place because employers are not the most trusted people on this planet.

If you want to dismiss staff because of economics, go ahead, just don’t reemploy any one else to take their place. That is fair.

Why would anyone filling in for someone else be anxious about if that person was coming back or not. It is not their position to want to know. They took the job on knowing they were temporary.

This is why we now have persons with sensible heads to head our govt; McDonalds clown was never going to be a proper PM, it is now fixed thank heavens. We have employers rights and we have workers rights, both have to be protected by law. Gone are the days of pub employment, cash pays, everybody has obligations to be met.

Unions were bought about because of unscrupulous employers, the ones that are continually trying to evade the lawful system to line their own pockets, and throw some crumbs to the peasants. Oliver Twist was an example of slave labor, he got chastised for asking for more food.

Our system is 38 Hours / week, within that time you are supposed to earn a sustainable living for age. As we are still a first world, we can not have exploitation, slave labor or under payment of employment. That is not what Australian law allows. We can not compete with third world wages or conditions. And who would want to.

For 5 months of the year I live in a third world country, The wages are $1.50 / day , Plus free food , free transport to and from work, and slum type housing. The workers are trapped in a cycle of poverty, that never ends. The workplace is a 5 star hotel for tourists. Their govt; is corrupt, the police are corrupt, the employers are multinational and corrupt, their country is a tropical paradise and picture perfect.

Economic management was woeful under Gillard, worse under Abbott and it's too early to say if it will be substantially different under Turnbull.

When demand is strong (as can be expected if the economy's being well run) there will be plenty of desire to employ more people regardless of what our unfair dismissal laws are.

Conversely, when demand is weak, there won't be much desire to employ people even if there are no unfair dismissal laws.

Dream on you clowns, you live in a world provided by other people risks.

Doog, you talk about fair.

If a worker gets a better offer they are free to up and leave, yet, if a better worker arrives you can't sack the poorer ome to employ them.

How is that fair because I thought fair was being fair to all.

The only clown we had is now on the back bench, practicing spitting dummy. Butch red tape removal, which = Laws is a fallacy , that Abbott did not understand. His measly attempt did nothing
.
Turnbull and Bill will run a good ship, middle of the political spectrum, that is where we are. It’s a pity that our NBN is not going to be up to scratch, Half of a system is all we can hope for. No doubt the other half will have to come at a later date. As is, the system will be a handicap on Australia. A good chance gone begging.

Sam D I must have missed something, could not have been important. Get with the program that is ahead Butcher. History is in the past as always, we have a new beginning and a new PM.

Life is to short to grumble your way through life. Change your ways at looking at the bigger picture. Turnbull has a level head, it was a mistake to nail Turnbull in favor of Abbott. You were warned, by many prominent persons.

Turnbull has gained far more than he has lost, he makes the Liberal party look good , it will be interesting to see how many hard liners from the Far right faction can survive an election. Abbott can start his own party, that way he can always be leader.

We need a policy of building our own military equipment, to even contemplate getting equipment from elsewhere is stupid.

I want to see those subs that were to urgent to get quotes for built in SA.
Nationalize iron ore mining, and leave coal in the ground. With Bill and Mal I reckon we can do that.

doog, SM never mentions the dozen corrupt Liberal politicians hauled before the NSW ICAC and shown to be corrupt! There was Plonker Barry, Cornball, Hatchet Hartcher, the list is too extensive to name them all. They took money illegally.

What Paul doesn't mention is the greens are now bought and paid for by the CFMEU with dirty money and that they are just as corrupt as the union officials that sell out their workers.

PS Would you like to remind everyone what Karel Solomon the greens candidate for Marrickville?

Shadow is that the best you can come up with? Unlike the multitude of Liberal politicians found to be corrupt by the ICAC, not one Green has been convicted of anything, not one! When you grease the palm of a corrupt Liberal you can expect plenty in return, like 98% developers getting all sorts of shonky projects approved.

What about the rabbit Abbott, is he going to be charged with malicious damage to taxpayers property? I am referring to the expensive table, an irreplaceable national treasure, Abbott and his cronies seen fit to wantonly smash up in parliament house the night Abbott was ass holed! No doubt these grubs were in a drunken rage at the time, unfit to lead our great nation.

doog,
"Nationalize iron ore mining, and leave coal in the ground. With Bill and Mal I reckon we can do that"

Neither Bill nor Mal would be stupid enough to want to nationalize iron ore mining. It's not something that governments are able to do better than private enterprise. And anyway, because the end product is a commodity, the public wouldn't be able to gain from ensuring more of the benefits are passed on to the customers rather than being retained by the shareholders.

Paul,

Not one liberal has been convicted either.

How's Karel by the way?

Karel Solomon, a Greens member who contested the 2012 Marrickville local council election, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in an undercover police operation.
Police allege Solomon, 61, made sexually explicit comments to a police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl online during the operation last month.
He then planned to meet the girl at a Parramatta restaurant but was instead confronted by detectives. (Daily Telegraph)
