Are blondes smarter than brunettes?

Do good looks, high income and intelligence go together?

Do some people really have it all?

A married couple were awakened by a call at 2 a.m. The wife, a blonde, picked up the phone, listened a moment and said, "How should I know, that’s 200 miles from here!" and hung up. Her husband asked, "Who was that?" She replied, "I don't know; some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear."

I think it is a learned sterotype that happens at a young age.Good looking blonde girls get a lot of attention and probably don't have to use their brains to reach the same level of attention or approval,so the Brunette has to try harder and probably develops her intellectual and emotional skills earlier while the blondes bath in the sunlight of attention and don't develop.Marilyn Munroe was your typical sterotype blonde, however beneath that seductive exterior, she was pretty smart.

In the past it was not smart to be blonde, intelligent and stunning since that frightened many men.Perhaps our new age blondes don't have to be stupid to get their man.

rj, our new age blondes don't even want 'their man'. the ones i hear about are looking for more than one, with different good points, for an association more fluid and flexible than traditional.

i hope the new age man can keep up with them- it seems very hard to me.

I don't know if blondes are smarter than brunettes. My mother born in 1914, obtained degrees from European universities and spoke a number of languages fluently. She was also stunningly beautiful. Her advice to me was never to show a man that you know more than he does; especially not to let him feel less intelligent.

I can recall her discussing philosophy with a young man. Her knowledge was far in excess of his, having done her thesis on the philosopher concerned - and in the philosopher's original language - as we know, language has subtleties which do not translate well. I was amused to see how she asked the young man the right questions so that he could correctly answer them, making him feel both more intelligent and better informed than herself. Her questions, however, were never so trivial that he felt she was stupid, but felt that they were engaged in an exciting debate. Quite an example of seeing an intellectual "tightrope balance". I imagine many women of that generation did the same.

However, I have been told that men like blondes better than brunettes, because they look fresher and somehow cleaner than brunettes, but also get dirtier quicker.

danielle, seems like you got a good prize in the lottery of birth.

don't let the interest, or obsession, with looks bother you, i believe it's the way genetic imperatives to both improve and maintain the human race are effectuated in an animal whose intellect and culture may otherwise override good biology. we can't help it, in other words, and maybe it's best anyway.

blondes might on balance be dumber than brunettes, but since they tend to marry richer or more handsome men, it's very difficult to be sure.
