Both sides of government are afraid of the ethnic tail that wags the Party dog in marginal seats.

The previous Rudd and Gillard Labor+Green governments knew about the abuses but did nothing constructive to bring the offenders to justice and to prevent further abuse.

It is different where the Labor and LNP government bureaucrats get a dob-in that some 75yr old age pensioner who has paid taxes all of her life might have a 'man' in residence. In that case the investigators are on her door step immediately, the pension is cut and a penalty as well, and all in the blink of an eye.

The extreme multiculturalism and political correctness in Australia are no different from that in the UK, where thousands of wee girls have been the victims of sex trafficking by Pakistani men were brought in for big business, hopefully to work in the steel mills. However they became a drain on social security instead.

One wonders what it takes for soft, PC-frightened governments to conduct proper professional risk analysis and cost-benefit studies of their immigration policies and to install robust management controls to treat, or at the very least mitigate risks.

Governments have been leaned on to forget the their own stated aims of immigration. In lieu of robust, independent review against stated, specific, measurable, objectives there is sacred cow rhetoric on 'diversity' and ethnic restaurants.

As presented by TV, this is an abuse of the system, and therefore the taxpayer. For some on here its seen as an opportunity for a bit of "black bashing" and playing the political blame game. What is needed is an efficient screening by the relevant departmental officers to correct the situation. If laws need to be changed then the politicians need to act as well.

There are some on here who are apologists for open door immigration policies too. Those who would play the racism card, invoking multicultural political correctness against the reporters who uncovered this corruption.

As retiring police commissioners (in NSW, for example) have remarked about violence with weapons, certain migrant groups have imported their cultural traditions and values that present serious risks to Australia and are in direct conflict with Australian laws, culture, traditiona and values. Solving any minor disagreement by stabbing each another, or removing his ear or nose, or breaking kneecaps, was never known in Australia.

Federal governments and the responsible public agencies are failing Australia where they are not preferring FIRST and always, the most suitably skilled, low risk migrants who will make good citizens and not be a drain on Centrelink and problematical for law enforcement.

Out of the millions of available prospective, suitably-skilled migrants, why make a rod for the back of every Australian by giving preference to economic migrants in particular from societies where corruption and serious crime have always been part of their societies and way of life? It is taking unnecessary risks with public safety and culture.

If there is a lesson to be taken from the child sex trafficking of Rotherham and other centres in the UK, it is that some ethnic groups can reliably be expected to import and maintain their own toxic political traditions and corruption. The UK Labour Party pre-selected candidates who were up to their ears in the foul practices, concealed the offending and blocked investigation.

Australian Labor PM Gillard strongly criticised those who play the racism card to poison the well and stymie discussion. She was right to do so.

As it stands, multicultural political correctness would be the most likely reason why the root causes and contributors to the widespread corruption of the Day Care system are NOT being commented upon by all parties and the media. Where governments are saying that the public must tighten their belts and young workers must accept higher taxes, leakage from the federal budget should be a concern of all politicians.

otb,

Excuse me while I briefly interrupt your Labour bashing.

But I noticed this line...

".... The UK Labour Party pre-selected candidates who were up to their ears in the foul practices, concealed the offending and blocked investigation."

Which put me in mind of our own government who appear to be up the the same shenanigans regarding their duty of care to the kiddies they intern on Nauru.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-07/nauru-letter-of-concern-demands-royal-commission/6374680

"Immigration Department aware of sexual abuse allegations against children for 17 months but failed to act, say former Nauru workers"

Concealing practices and blocking investigation is their specialty - in addition to sacking whistle-blowers and demonising messengers.

I'm sure you'll be straight out of the box to condemn the Abbott govt for such heinous conduct.

This particular issue makes me wonder why some persons and groups appear to get protection from adverse publicity when ever they are caught out doing the wrong thing. The media was aware of this rorting about a year ago, yet nothing was said until a recent TV revelation. The same with the politicians, no statements to the House and no questions asked. Yet, on some minor matters both the media and the polys will raise merry hell, as if mass murder was committed.

Is it because of the ethnicity of the group so far revealed? Are those that know scared to raise the matter because of racism. Or is it because the issue has been going on under the watch of both major parties, so neither can claim the high moral ground.

One thing is obvious, as the groups involved were brought here as refugees and their literacy and English is not good, they must have been assisted by some person/s who understand the complex laws and regulations relative to child care. Why has investigation taken so long and why are they still operating? Who else is involved and how widespread is this rorting?

This is not the first time inaction and or protection has been carried out. Only a few months ago the smh had a big story on corruption in the DIAC and the then Minister Morrison was calling for an urgent report. Nothing has been heard of since, it apparently has been buried. Why, was it because of the ethnicity of the staff or the immigrants getting an advantage, or was there simply no case to answer. The smh usually does not make wild allegations.

Yes, something does smell in relation to both issues and those with the resourses to investigate should do so and those in authority need to be seriously questioned.

What is likely too is that the corruption extends into the public service. State and federal politicians could be involved if the trail is followed by investigating police and forensic auditors.

This sort of problem,

http://www.smh.com.au/national/public-service-keeps-fraud-cases-private-20110923-1kpdr.html

What prevents the 'fact-finding' ABC from investigating is more likely to be its non-disclosed informal editorial policy that decrees that migrants always be buffed up and presented in the very best light. -Just as the Christian churches must be presented in the very worst light, with every alleged indiscretion publicised.
