"The inaugural Game and Pest Management Advisory Board was announced by the Minister for Primary Industries on 4 November 2014. The Board has been appointed under the Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2002 and according to the NSW Government Boards and Committees Guidelines July 2013."

In a show of good sense the Government has appointed a majority of hunters to the Board, in fact six of the seven members are said to be hunters in the brief outlines given.

Is Mise, this is simply another advisory board to the minister, the government also had the good sense not to give these people any sort of decision making power.
I would not read to much into this hunters are 6/7th of this board;

The key piece is.

Under the Game and Feral Animal Control Act 2002, the Board will:

Represent the interests of licensed hunters in matters arising under the Act.

Provide advice on request to the Minister or the Regulatory Authority on game and feral animal control.

Provide advice on request to the Minister regarding priorities for research expenditure from the Game and Pest Management Trust Fund.

Provide advice to the Minister or the Regulatory Authority on educational courses relating to game hunting.

I'm willing to see where this all leads, particularly on the emotive issue of hunting in national parks. Advice is one thing that is not always acted upon. as you well know.

This board's function is nothing like the old Game Council and the powers it had been given. they may spend a lot of time doing very little. I wish them good luck.
