I don't think that the public were ever interested in Thorpe's sexuality. Thorpe himself admitted after Parky introduced it, that media speculation was at fault, dogging him about his sexuality.
However that in turn, the media speculation, was a direct result of the to-do being deliberately created by gay activists, especially the US-led 'gay pride' activists who were hell-bent on 'outing' suspected gay celebrities (and calling any who criticised that ruthless tactic as closet gays themselves) and the political correctness of the left. The Greens 'protest party' as Julia Gillard and many others called them, have shamelessly used gay politics as a means to an end, which is to get their headlines, and to cover for their lack of practical policies of course. There is no doubt whatsoever that gay activists, believing that the end justified the means, have been relentless in pursuing celebrity 'gays' as trophies, violating personal privacy and causing tremendous suffering. The British Establishment … Paedophiles Everywhere
http://www.davidicke.com/headlines/79139-the-british-establishment-paedophiles-everywhere/ A British newspaper quoted a ‘Buckingham Palace insider’ as saying that Prince Charles ‘was furious that he was never informed about suspicions that Savile was a pervert who preyed on children.’ The ‘insider’ said ‘the Palace have been on to the security services to see why they were not informed’ and the source continued: The Queen, Philip, Charles and others want to know why no-one picked up a phone to tell them a child abuser was being allowed in royal homes and meeting with senior royals and their families … What a load of baloney. I’ll tell you why they didn’t pick up the phone -they were already well aware that the royals knew and had done so since paedophile Mountbatten brought Savile into the fold as a child procurer in the 1960s. "Hopefully one day we'll develop a level of sophistication and decency where we're not referring to people according to their colour, their sexuality, their whatever. But while that continues, I have very strong concerns about the damage that this does to people."
