I realise Johan you have a very low opinion of police, and in some instances, your opinion may be well founded ? Lets say we do away with the police altogether. What then would we as a society do, to replace them ? And replace them with what, and with whom ?

The only pragmatic answer is the military, similar to that which is occurring in Thailand at the moment ? Or should we return to the very first instance of 'institutionalised order' the Coroner investigating serious crime (mainly homicides) before Charles 1st, in the 1620-30's, well before Sir Robert Peel's 'runners' ?

Of non-colonised countries, Japan and the Korea's to a lesser extent, do quite well without too much colonisation Johan ? Nor do either of them assist with any specific refugee programmes to my knowledge, I'm not even sure if they're even signatories to any of the UN Conventions on Refugees ?

I have always wondered why military personnel can't be made police deputies when there's a shortage of Police. Especially in remote communities Police do not attend some brawls because they simply can't due to being outnumbered, yet the Army is stationed a few miles down the road playing pools.
