Now as for the proposed fuel tax, or increase of same, what, are you suggesting the tax stays at 38 cents indefinitely?
Why is it not indexed? Perhaps the blame lay on Howard/Costello as once the debt was repaid, the indexation should have been reinstated, otherwise the tax get swallowed up with inflation. Same goes for the pension.
It was interesting to note that Bill Shorten is up in arm about the pension being indexed to inflation, rather than wage growth as has been the case.
So why not index them to inflation, because after all, is that not what increases the cost of living.
