Why buy the boats from japan, we NEED manufacturing industry here. All foreign aid should also be produced here to stimulate industry. Buying from others to give to others is proven failed ALP policy.

Unfortunately it would not be possible to buy the boats from an Australian manufacturer. We gave up the right to build anything here when we signed a heap of trade agreements that say we are not in the race when it come to producing anything but quarried goods and a lot of paper to be shuffled around by the so called finance sector.
We could ask the "illegal boat people" if they would so kind as to donate the boats back to us when they have finished with them.
Of course duty and GST would have to be paid on them.
The question of buying from others to give to others as a failed policy should be seen as failure. It just means that it is a courageous decision by the government.
Failed policies are an asset that can be capitalized on

As for the solution, the turning of the boats, backed up with life boats (for those idiots that think that by sinking their boats that they can scuttle the tow back policy), the solution is working without the need to mistreat any asylum seekers.
