Rudd's honeymoon is over. Let's prepare for divorce.

Now that the voters are on to Rudd, and realize that his "new way" is the "Old way" with policy on the run and zero consultation repackaged, the voters have lost trust in him.

"Labor's primary vote is at its lowest - and dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister at its highest - since Mr Rudd returned to the party leadership six weeks ago.

According to the latest Newspoll, conducted exclusively for The Australian on the weekend, the Coalition's primary vote support of 46 per cent, up two percentage points in the past week, is at a three-month high. Labor's 35 per cent, down two points since the beginning of the formal campaign last week, is back to where it was when Mr Rudd removed Julia Gillard as leader. The Greens' primary vote continues to oscillate between 9 per cent and 11 per cent."

Let's divorce Rudd. We could use one less narcissistic ego manic.

Close even probable SM but not yet.
Ample time exists for the Bridesvail to drop and Australia to see the real Tony Abbott.
And too to see the construction of half truths and down right lies coming from his team and his campaign manager/boss Rupert Murdock.

I always have had most faith in public opinion, at last in Australia based on our experience.

I am glad it appears that the electorate is now coming to terms with the reality that Labor does not have the answers, and that the other major political force needs its go. Common sense, given the past 6 years.

Ahh, yes Chris, but the LIB/NATS need Ludwig and myself to put them on
the right track !
Somehow I don't think they are listening.

I hope you are right, but a bit optimistic at this point.

I do not see how any thinking person could vote Labor at this election.

One only has to consider all the stuff ups, the failed projects and false promises made over the last 6 years. Then to consider the $300 billion debt, and the $30 billion deficit this year, after many promises of a surplus. Then of course is the total fiasco of the illegal boat people. At present Labor could not run a chook raffle in a pub.

How could anyone vote Labor, They need a real good clean out, then get some competent candidates for the future.

Do you know there is a website called 'Kevin Rudd Lies' and you can google it. It lists a lot of his untruths.

Yes, I thought it was typical in the way Rudd let the notes at the debate slip through to the keeper, not my fault, my staff didn't advise me of the rules.

Didn't he do something similar to Peter Garrett? Blame him!

I am of the opinion that labor were done and dusted anyway, however, even if there was a glimmer of hope with Rudds return, his arrogance and disrespect for the frustrated voters, (by keeping everyone guessing about the election date) literally cooked his goose.

In other words, he took the bait.

You guys amaze me.

Tony Abbott is presenting a gaffe each day. He's a bit of a dill. The latest being that he talked up the "sex appeal" of a female candidate in Sydney.

Definitely shades of George Dubya in this joker.

But apparently the Prime Minister's notes are a far more serious affair.

At least Tony's presenting us with a laugh.

We all make our judgements.

I have always thought Rudd was overrated and Abbott smarter than many give him credit for, albeit no one is perfect.

The ultimate test will be his time in govt as leader.

Banjo,
Neither do I but I'm afraid there are a lot of educated people out there who need ALP Government to mollycoddle them from cradle to grave.
Then there are many non-thinkers who vote ALP. This where Democracy fails us.

Hi Poirot,

Yeah, but she wasn't bad, you have to admit. If I was up that way, I'd like to give her my vote, maybe.

Jeez, a bloke's gotta say what he thinks :)

Oh well, back to the real world.

P,

At least Tony's gaffe does not cost us $250bn, as has Kevin's

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/federal-election-2013/rudds-honeymoon-just-a-sugar-hit-after-all-20130814-2rwr1.html

"Consider the equation before voters. On one side is a two-term government racked by spectacular hatreds, dragged low by broken promises on carbon and the surplus, various program failures and a worsening economy. It campaigns for ''a new way'' but offers a recycled leader once dumped and then viciously traduced by his own side. This gaffer-taped operation is asking voters for another three years.

On the other side is an opposition famed for its negativity and woefully small-horizon thinking, yet uncannily united and consistent. Its leader, while prone to the odd verbal gaffe - his female candidates have ''sex appeal'' - enjoys unqualified support internally."

Oh I am fed up with the professional faint hearted objectors to anything
they can fit into the PC window.

Yet Kevin, who is ten times worse, is their darling.
B^&*dy hypocrits !

Give me an ugly competent PM over a show pony egotist incompetent PM like Rudd, anytime !
It can only be that they find him to have sex appeal.

You are assuming that most in Labor like Kevin Rudd. I suspect that is not so only that they know that the public like him for some reason that no-one else can fathom

Yes Pelican, but the three females on here seem to be wrapped in him.

In that debate last night did you notice how Rudd just rabbits on & on ?
A simple question gets a total wide coverage on everything anywhere near
the question.

He has always done that and Julia took up the technique but perfected it.
She could take a journo's question and go on for so long that the time
for questions from other journos was cut back dramatically.
They woke up to this and tried to interupt her, but to no avail she just plowed on & on.
The purpose of course was to avoid questions from the awkward questioners.

Rudd has been trying to copy Julia's technique but does not seem to succeed.
Tony Abbot was not the only one saying "Don't you ever shut up ?".

That why he seemed to dominate the debate, he just went on & on.
Do you want a windbag or the quiet man for PM ?

Back to Pelican's post, I sometimes wonder if the Labour Party has
planted the three females here because come hell or high water they
never find fault with Rudd or Labour except for the historical oncers.

In fact if they are indeed females, or is it that females under the
current lefty trendy agenda, females can never be criticised and so
make a protected species protected by PC strictures.
