The power of the Executive should not be omnipresent or feared. These whistleblowing incidents and the reaction by governments suggests a need for a better legislative framework that enforces accountability and provides protection for the whistleblower. Something is wrong when good people fear their governments.

It is more often the whistleblower who pays the price and who comes under scrutiny due to their actions. The experiences of Ellsberg, Snowden and Drake strongly suggest a need for be better checks and balances
