Steve Madden. Never met him. Only knew him by the record of his posts.
His record here? 578 comments in total: 459 article comments, 119 general comments. His first post: Friday, 9 December 2005 2:18:14 PM, to the topic "On the question of community: blogs and belonging". He did. An early quote: "My bone marrow may be f*#*ed but my mind still works." ( http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?article=3985#24333 ) His last post: Saturday, 21 April 2007 6:02:06 PM, to the topic "What happened on water rights?" (http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=557#10655 ) Basic. Pithy. Typically, quoting references to the end, and proved the point about his mind. I had recently obliquely challenged Steve's accuracy in respect to one matter, and was expecting an amplification or rebuttal. Sadly, I now know why it hadn't come. Steve was always prepared to dog up the references and facts, something that appears beneath the dignity of many. He was also, for all of his uncompromising directness, gracious enough to admit that there were other sides to any argument. I will miss his presence on this forum. Thank you, jmAD, for informing us of Steve's passing. May he rest in peace. Posted by Forrest Gumpp, Saturday, 28 April 2007 1:11:35 PM
