In the CSG industry (Qld) more and more workers are contractors and, not only contractors, but many who engage them will no longer do so unless they are a PTY LTD contractor, as this exempts them from super.
It's a simple case of if you (the unions) push hard enough, the job providers will change their arrangements, because while all employers may need workers, they don't need staff.
Of cause now there is no looking back, which may be fine while mining is booming, but!
Try getting a home loan, with a set up cost of thousands, ongoing compliance costs of a PL company and a contract now and agin.
But hey, THEY WERE WARNED, loud and clear, before they took an axe to IR, but they simply won't stop pushing.
An example being the hundreds now out of work at a huge printing firm, because one their employer went broke, and two, their work place agreement, which was no doubt negotiated by the unions, is deemed by the new owners, as unworkable.
They (the unions), lead by Julia Gillard, Bill Shorten and co are just too clever by half.
At the rate we are headed, we will have the worlds best working conditions, with the worlds shortest week, unless you are a PL contractor.
So we may well head back to the pre unfair dismissal days after all, as employers can pick and choose contractors at will.
Labor/unions, take a bow"
