Labor have really sunk to an all time credibility low.

New $20,000 ticket to Oz for refugees. Now they want to bring in 500 refugees just so long as the community pays $20,000 for the visa and they would have to support them for 1 year (probably then the taxpayer has to support them for the rest of there life)

I see another monumental disaster here that will cost TAXPAYERS million in the long run.

Notice again the Government is giving preferential treatment to refugees because back in May they had another visa scheme where businessmen and women who can invest at least $5 million in Australia will be given preferential visa treatment. That one at least with that amount of money should not cost taxpayers (unless they import Bernie Maddoff types)

Good idea.
$20,000 to the Aus government instead of the people smugglers.
And no drownings at sea.

The miners are looking for foreign workers, so why not make a quid at the same time. Method over requirement.

Phil, do you lay awake at night pondering your next post about illegals! You and one or two others, seem to be obsessed with asylum seekers. Other than voting for the conservatives, or confronting woman and children with gunboats, do you actually have a solution to the problem.

Paul1405 - As well you know I have espoused on many threads methods of dealing with the problem, sorry for your amnesia or selective memory.

Quote "You and one or two others, seem to be obsessed with asylum seekers."

It would appear that you are obsessed with them for the opposite reason to myself, you want the same as the Greens that we should let the 100,000 in Indonesia come here by ocean Liners and all in detention should be released and allowed to bring there relatives here of course every Australian taxpayer supports your view that is why Labor is doing so well in the polls.

Philip S,

After Bob Carr's announcement today, I guess you'll need someone to get you back down after you've hit the ceiling?

As I remarked in my comment to Julie Bishop's post regarding the "education revolution", this government has found yet another way to spend more of our money.

Not on remedying an education system for our children, not on the increasing number of our homeless, and not on those people who are relying on charities to help them find food to put on the table. They have better ways to squeeze us again. So they have decided to throw more money into the pot for refugees.

Now remember, the State has no money except ours and what it borrows.

So, is it borrowing this money from somewhere, or is it using ours?

There is no prize for guessing the correct answer on this one.

Have a good Christmas one and all. You may not get another chance when we're all broke
