Luddy, tell him to try holding the shift key down as he clicks on the page he wants. This brings the page up as a pop up. If it does not fully open, you can at least close it & try again. It is the only way I have been able to access OLO for a while.

Used normally kept freezing the computer for long periods.

Ludwig/Yabby I had the same problem this morning.
Then realized I had been having it more than I said.
Been fixing it fast and it seems automatically.
Every time it takes place the add thing is in the bottom left hand corner.
So I ,unthinking I found this morning, hit the back key.
Then go forward and it is unfrozen.
All in a micro second.

Sometimes when it happens, it locks up the whole kaboodle. Quite apart from OLO, nothing else works and I can't do anything other than reboot.

Ludwig,

I, too, was experiencing the sort of freezes you describe prior to patching my OS and browser with all the security updates, as described in my post of Wednesday, 24 October 2012 at 7:47:43 AM.

I do not know whether, when you re-start your browser after a re-boot, you are choosing the option of restoring your previous session tabs, or whether you are starting an entirely new session. If it is the former, you might achieve temporary relief from the freezes by starting a new session and then progressively bringing up the other sites you may want from your bookmarks.

For example, at one time it seemed to me that it was the logging back into Twitter via the Twitter tab in my relatively standard session selection of tabs (email, OLO posting history, etc) I routinely maintain that hastened the onset of freezes.

This suggestion of course assumes that there is no fundamental browser incompatibility problem between your IE9 and the sites you are visiting.

In your post of Thursday, 8 November 2012 at 9:54:43 PM, you refer to your housemate having problems whilst you are not, even though both of you are attempting to access the same site, OLO. Are you sharing the same internet connection to the premises? If so, could it be that his system has unpatched (or unpatchable) security vulnerabilities that are permitting user-targetted online attacks to which you are, at least for the time being due to your different OS and browser version, immune?

Was there to be any internet-savvy entity wishing to disrupt, in generality, the conversation upon OLO, there would not be too extensive a base of regular comment contributors to target with one form or other of online attack to enable such disruption to happen. Until I updated my system, some of the degraded functionality I was experiencing had the appearance of online attacks, but not necessarily delivered through the OLO site.

Presently, I am having no OLO accessing problems.
