The list is shocking and growing. Help make a list

- pink batts on/off
- solar rebates on/off
- mining tax on/modified to suit big miners/modification means it will never generate revenue
- super trawlers in/out
- carbon tax on/off/on

and now another.
Commercialisation Australia chief confirms new grants on hold amid "unheard of" government review of grants

Tuesday, 11 September 2012 10:37
Patrick Stafford wrote

"The chief executive of the Federal Government's Commercialisation Australia scheme has confirmed no new grants are being written, as the government engages in a widespread halt on grants in a range of sectors.

This comes as a separate report has confirmed the Clean Technology Investment Fund under the direction of Climate Change Minister Greg Combet has also been halted.

The government is understood to have put all grants on a temporary pause. Many of these grants are designed specifically for small and medium businesses.

Doron Ben-Meier confirmed with SmartCompany this morning that while Commercialisation Australia is still operating as per usual, no new grants are being written.

"It's not intended to be a long-term solution. But the program is not on hold, this only applies with regard to the writing of new grants."

GrantReady managing director Adrian Spencer says while states and territories have suffered pauses in grant programs before, the current scale of the federal pause is "unheard of".

"Logically we understand the government has to manage its cashflow. But it's the timeline that took people by surprise."

A separate report in Fairfax alleges the Clean Technology Investment program, created as part of the government's carbon tax legislative suite and worth $1 billion, has also been put on hold.

The grant is designed to help manufacturers invest in new energy-saving equipment. But as part of the general hold, it has also been temporarily halted."

It is almost totally impossible to make any commercial decision that are "policy related" these days.

Sure businesses love hand outs etc but even they dont like the handouts changing all the time as they cant make the most of them.

The links between business and political parties are far to high. Business should question if they are serving the country by making political positions available at their firms for various political advisers as they move from govt to opposition and then back to governments. Silly question really..many dont care about serving the country ( long terms interests of their Australia shareholders)...just the pockets of their executive team or offshore shareholders.

The latest scam to avoid corporate donation rules is to employ a senior member of the party and pay them an inflated wage....given they will work mostly on party matters and "understand" that the individual as part of the deal will donate individually a significant portion of his/her salary ( inflated to cover this) to their party

It's all about confidence.

Huge business, feeds big business, which feeds medium business which in turn feeds small business, who are the largest employers we have.

The all have one thing in common, they need to be confident in the road ahead.

Confidence to borrow, to expand, to invest.

I said four years ago that confidence would be a looming problem, or lack of, which would be caused by labor.

I was shot down then, but I bet I won't be now.

You see, people will spend money so long as they knownthey can replace it. This goes for all, from mums and dads, to multi nationals.

This government is simp,y incompitent and confidence has been eroded.
