Missed that can you post a link please.' I heard her on the ABC news condemning the action of the swimmers. Was quite pathetic.

Heard on news tonight that the AOC has punished the two by making them come home directly after their events, missing the closing ceremony. a couple of other minor punishments as well. Supported by Swimming Australia.

It is ridiculous, the blokes have done nothing wrong. How can a pic of the boys holding guns bring the sport into disrepute? For Gods sake, we have a 17 person shooting team going!

What if they had gone to a reptile park and had a pic taken holding a couple of snakes and posted that on facebook?

This has ruined my hight, I was just ready to sit and watch the footy and now am simply flabbergasted and angry.

I it were me I would tell them to stick the Olympics.

I will definately protest to the AOC and contact media. Trust there will be a public outcry as there was the last day or so.

I hope other Olympians will hold some sort of protest. Any punishment is just wrong.

The AOC needs to shed its hypocritical morality and adopt a reasoned view. It should start by hiring Borat as a consultant. There is no question that had the Olympians been snapped performing Camorra style mock-executions of Gypsies, Jews or other undesirables, the public would have responded with backslapping warmth and playful affection. This is a misunderstanding about the intent of the athletes, an intent that Borat would have clearly shown to viewers with the compassion and sensitivity that he is so renowned for.

Anyhow, their gun pictures were boring. They should have posed with something like this.

Banjo is quite correct within the realms of an innocent activity. Many countries have guns including the US, and as Jayb pointed out on another thread, guns are a part of how humans control there breeding habits. Yes its sounds very cold, however our waring history here in Australia shows the hypocritical behaviours; for example "we all remember and supports the ANZAC's and celebrate the culling practices of war" funny how humans make decisions.
When it comes to gun owners, not everyone's a fool. The reasons for guns in general, cause it works multiple which has been out-lined already. However, you all missed one important one....."when jail want-to-be,s like to blow themselves away, the slime of drug deals selling to your children, no-one blinks an eye to that one, because it works in your favour. Sure, the crazy, the suicidal, the murderous lover, and even some bikies, do become the victims, but its all human.
In the world of this many, how can we not have guns? If some of you weren't told about the laws of life.....its a gamble....who guaranteed you a free pass without consequences? (not even GOD him self) Anyone of you could cross the road and bang!, drive your car, get hit at a hotel fight, or you just slip over in the bath tub...........etc

Then death comes for you, you cant stop it....but one can increase your chances...what you say:)....Thats your problem.

Try not driving when on your phone, dont drink and drive, stop smoking, get regular check ups from your doctor, or just stop being a clown.....these will help:)

Being a past gun owner for 4 years, feral pests was one enjoyment, target shooting was another, lining up bottles and cans.....but the novelty soon wore off.

People kill people, not the guns.

Its just like any other mechanical device, you take your chances.

What a human-being has on its mind, even if you give or take it away, they will just find another way to complete the task.

To the swimming stars, whats happened too them, is a disgrace!

And if everyone's so worries about what there fellow human might do, maybe you/we should have a good look that the mental health system.

Its funny that 80% of what one hears on the NEWS, is just another crazy people person, go figure.
