OUG,

Well I am usually here...except lately, as I've been on an extended hiatus of sorts....so....at first I skittered around here and there - and then I landed on Jennifer Wilson's site, No Place For Sheep, just in time to witness an online stoush between Jennifer and Melinda Tankard Reist.

http://noplaceforsheep.com/2012/01/14/mtr-threatens-sheep-with-legal-action-if-we-dont-censor-our-posts-about-her-immediately/
(and other follow-up articles)

It's been quite a heady debate and has raged over various blogs and twitter and made it to MSM...nothing like a good old barney between feminists on the subject of bullying and transparency

Just goes to show that there's always something going on somewhere.

Oh dear! I missed someone disagreeing with MTR? Who would've thought?!!

On topic, though, I'd have to say that OLO is the only forum that can sustain my interest for any extended period. Back in my late high school and uni days, I was an avid contributor to the U2.com Zootopia forum. We talked about music, shared recipes and had a sort of pan-global love-in. The Hearts & Minds section, though, was a lot more heated. We squabbled much as we often do in here, went over the same topics over and over (much as we often do in here) and only occasionally changed our views. But it was an education. Then a company with an Italian-sounding name took over and demanded that we pay money to continue contributing and, well, that was the end of that. I kind of miss it sometimes, but OLO filled the gap nicely.

So, when I'm not posting here, I'm not posting anywhere. Sometimes I take a break because nothing I see here inspires me. That's not an attack on what I see here - it's more that I'm in a prolonged state of uninspired-ness. Still, it's nice to come back and see what's been going on, and what I've missed.

In the garden OUG or in the scrub on a trail usually one I would be better not being on.
For 5 days, or there about, haveing big trouble just getting on line.
Satellite and provider is not telling but its bad .
Land line will never get better too few users for NBN.
So just reading news has been out.
Those bush tracks are another world more Ferrell cats than wild life,we one day day do some thing about that.

hi pure'O...good to see you here
its funny how we find sites..like wilson..[or in my case olo]
one thing when im bored..is checking out the first post..of our posters

i well recall the search that landed me here
just to have a firm opinion posted
fully expecting to get banned
again...

[seems my opinions
as well as my suggestive name..
have begotten my banning..from the other forums...
everything from religeon sites...fixed in they creeds
to freedom sites...censerd by athiest/or as i would call them..'flappers for the man'

chosing who cant or cant be heard
[as opposed to those censoring people by complaint to moderators]
in my case usually for my obscure english phras-ology..and word limited count submission]..

oh dear im doing it again]

anyhow belly..your troubles with the satilite
dont sweat on that..[thats from the sun solar emmisions
the northern areas..are having some great light shows...as the raditaion enters our earths atmosphere]...upsetting the satilites as it passes

2012..is going to be big on that this season
and glad your still asking the difficult questions

like otokonoco...i have my breaks..from the forum
usually involentary...when simply cause i cant reply..
i just shut down olo completly..and find the next place

my next blogging place will be al gezera..[i think]
cause bbc/abc/sbs..all simply delete my posts
often before its even posted

for me..its about speaking freely
[cutting through the spin
in near real time

and here..is as free..
as we currently are allowed to be

yahoo news..used to allow comment
on news..as it was released...but as soon
as i masterd..that..system..[in real time]..by posting..within seconds..of them posting 'it'...they took it down..

i guess..im just trying to fight the lies/spin
that perpetually..gets in..[as it seeps into us all]
especially..if the 'news'..is extreem...

[lol..a riot..
what was it really?]

a media event
spinning out of orbit

so i watch the news..for faulse flag events
[like the pm's resteraunt 'riot'...
and try to sort out..[avert]..
the media storm..

there is so much world out there
but the deluded few who suck our life blood[materially]
insist on continueing it..post materialist/life...upon the still [materialy]..living...energy vampire's...[thats why we are all tired]

our thought's/passions attract them
when we fixate...or give passion-ate focussed attention
in lue of letting go..[venting]..but spiritual is a thing people refuse to dissuss...so i find it easier

to simply quote/reply

belly..""Satellite and provider..is not telling..but its bad.""

its not bad..belly...they knew it was comming..for years
every 11 years..there is a cycle...[solar poleshift]

the earths cycle..is in a thousands of year's cycle
and reportedly is passt due[you might have noted on the sun..we get sun spots..on this water planet..we get weather cycles][extreem weather events][these will release/flush out the frakking poisens]

so dont trust the waters

""Land line..never get better..too few users for NBN."'

mate nbn/landline..cost too much
my dodo..[250 meg limit per month]..for 50$ a year
if that wonmt do it..im over it

""just reading news""

mate it comes in cycles
when its working...i just open links
then read them in the downtime..when there is no acces to web

""more Ferel cats..than wild life,
we one day day..do some thing about that""

on a hot day chase them...at a leisurly pace
keep them moving...cats only got short fast reactions
two or thre people..can easilly run them down..in relay

go on a cat hunt
no guns..while they run..they cant kill

G’Day OUG

Where am I when I’m not here?

All over the place.

If ‘here’ is home, I’m far away, and have been for most of the last twelve months, and a lot over the last few years. I’m a traveller. A botanist, geologist, mad birdo and manic photographer, who just loves getting out and about all over this great land.

If ‘here’ is OLO, I’m not there very much any more, mainly because I spend all my previous OLO time photoshopping, indexing and uploading my photos online.

I haven’t lost the passion for environmental and social debate. It has just taken a lower priority these days.

I don't spend much time on other opinion sites, this one's enough for me. I do spend quite a bit of time learning much of the technical & scientific stuff there was not tine for when life was more demanding. Trying to get the math back up to scratch is not all that easy.

My real love however is a couple of classic car sites. They're the reason I bothered with the net in the first place.

Not the Ferrari/ Maserati type stuff, but poor mans sports cars like MGs & Triumphs. These are cars which aren't worth much, & most owners can't afford can't afford specialists to work on their cars, so we have to do it ourselves. So many who start unable to change a spark plug end up competent car restorers with help from the more experienced.

To me it's amazing when you find a small town USA 40+ year old lady English teacher, who had never picked up a spanner 10 years ago, advising a South African diamond miner how to tell which parts of his gearbox need replacing. That's sharing.

So apart from trying to keep the grass & weeds down between downpours, it will be my old sports cars keeping me busy, one way or another.

I don't regularly involve myself in other general discussion sites, a couple of special interest sites are the only other regular post sites. As Hasbeen mentions it's fantastic the sharing that can happen on those sites.

Dear Johan (OUG),

Where am I when I'm not here? This is the only forum on
which I post. The rest of my time is spent all over
several places, from libraries, to aged care facilities.
Oh, and did I mention 2 grandchildren - and bike riding,
and jogging in the nearby park. Keeps me busy.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.

I do alot of photography and have a photo blog. I also have friends on YouTube and with blogs - writers and such - and spend time on twitter while I'm clunking away with photos in a photo editor.

0UG from what I could read, my server is not letting me on line for more than a few minutes
you got my land line problems wrong, here, in rain 12kb is it, dry its 26kb.
That will not change, while fibre ran past it was not used in local villages.
We have satellite, but wireless is increasing now, I can not get it yet but working on it.
May be gone for a few days/weeks, sorting it out.
Only post here but surf every place.

Not sure it will let me post.
server admits we can not use e mail, for days, but says nothing about no service, near at all.
yes know about the sun spot cycle, it is 11 years but varies, big p-art of my radio hobby but unlikely to be behind my troubles
seems few of us post other places I am missing my news, from wide source, lets see if I am back or still in trouble getting here

I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away...

i wasnt here
and i wasnt there

but enough of what i aint
its the painting of a fuller picture..that breaks steadfast restraint

[i ran out of cyber/credit..surfing the web.;cause i was bored]
then found..then..i was more bored than before..
everything seems such a chore

i noted the tv reception on nine was intermitant..[sunspot?]
and still trying to find what digetalised/doubles..[channel's].
there are in the dig-et'al realm..

anyhow now to catch up
form thoughts and voice opinions
but where to start..what will get me out of bed..to say

anyhow..
nuthin left to say
hope ya all..have a really nice/day

reluctant to branch off the topic?
thats why it was so open..in its beginning

i like belly replies...as it allows expantion of concept basics
[see how few email's in my inbox...now bellies on line acces is diminished]

without others inputs
i find i have little to say

so go to my other web sites
http://whatreallyhappened.com/

get angry about something
and search for a topic on that topic
[as people know..many of my starter topics dont get put up]
and im fine with that..thats just how things go...systems are great
as long as they dont get too much biased...

[like my other web site..now is run by athiests..
who delete my god posts..as soon as i post it
indeed got me banned

so i left there

but here is slowing down
so search despiritly for another 'here'
in case this site goes there too...

life runs in cycles
but which cycle..to give energy to
and which to ignore..and let die..

think why we are all..just too tired..to post
its just words..not lobbied adgenda..to get govt licence

researching/the greece bond-rate[over 100%]
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=114x90512

the value..of a note with..12 months to maturity
that has a yield of 108%..is currently selling..for somewhere around 42 cents..on the dollar.

If the yield..on the 1 year
started at around 10% and it's now over 100%
mean's this bond..is trading at less
then 10 cents on the dollar..or thereabouts?

Who would pay 42 cents on the dollar..for Greek debt
that's probably headed for default..in days or even hours?

[reply]..no, it doesn't.

If similar US paper..was sold at a 10% yield..then it would price just above $900 per bond...If it went to a 50% yield..the bonds would be bid down to about $667.

Here's a bond calculator..that will bear this out;

http://www.moneychimp.com/calculator/bond_yield_calculator.htm

Make sure the "Par Value"..field reads "1000".
In the "Coupon" field type "0" (zero)
and in the "Years to Maturity" field type "1" (one)

In the.."Current Price" field,
type.."480"..and you'll find the yield..will work/out
to/be..around 108%

9.Very interesting.
Thanks,..I ran it..through on the calculator.

Ok so basically
It's double..or nothing.

I can't believe anyone..would take that bet
with Greece..on the verge of default.

I'd want odds of at least 5 or 10 to 1.

At 2 to 1 odds
I might as well go to Vega.. and bet on black.

At least my odds are 50/50.

Maybe investors..are betting that..in the event of a default
the bond holder..will only take a 50% haircut..and they'll be even.

Either the German central bank..will step in,the US Federal Reserve will do something,..England will back-stop them.....""[with 3/4 trillion pounds]

the 50% haircut..is a possible alternative...That would mean instead of these being redeemed at par,..they are redeemed at half that.

In that case, had you bought some of these notes..at 42% or 48% of par or whatever,..you would still come/out..ahead,..albeit by only a few percentage points,..not by 108.

To briefly expand/on..that idea,..those
that are buying..these up..at that big yield will do fine...Those that paid much more..for them will lose.

source/for the article and the graf:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=GGGB1YR:IND
Yield on Greek one year tops 130%

now..138%
