In the 3 years prior to the pacific solution there were nearly 10000 boat people arrivals, compared to the 3 years prior to the removal of the pacific solution when there were less than 250. When Rudd took office there were 6 people in detention and now there are 5000. Of those going to Nauru, 75% were determined to be genuine refugees of which 43% were settled in Australia.
