OUG, I think you're taking 'absurd' to a whole new level here.

Are you suggesting that:
a) at the demand of the Queensland Premier, the police held off charging a man with Daniel Morcombe's abduction and murder until the most politically opportune moment, or
b) at the demand of the Queensland Premier, the police have simply arrested a man (anyone will do) to appear to have done something about this?

As for the media frenzy, I suspect this has less to do with the efforts of Anna Bligh and more to do with the well-developed campaign that has been run by the Morcombe family and their supporters for the past 8 years. A campaign that has waxed and waned over the years, but still managed to capture the hearts and minds of many Australians. It probably also has quite a bit to do with the media's desire to make a buck or two out of a story that is guaranteed to gain widespread attention, by whatever means necessary.

I sincerely doubt that it has anything to do with the next election.

I spoke with several contractors in the past few weeks & everyone said that the amount of money that is presently spent on Qld Govt projects & maintenance, borders on the insane. There are literally jobs so small it belies belief how much it costs to do the work as expensive airfares & helicopter charters go into the thousands of dollars just to put in several tap washers or of similar ridiculously small nature. Over the years Labor policies have not provided adequate training in practical fields & now we're stuck with two generations of people who can't hold a spanner. Now just before the election huge money is spent to cover up this negligence by engaging contractors en-masse to bring housing & infrastructure up to election promise standard. Labor has left it far too late to turn around on the road to mayhem. They simply hope that by overspending now they can once more hoodwink the electorate. The way the education curriculum is structured around stopping young people from thinking they may just get their wicked way again.

with a promise to fix health..then go to usa
with a plum trade job selling qld as the smart state

i watched as anna blight...was taken to court by clive palmer
who dropped his case after anna went to china and got him a huge loan
to reap in more than the state debt...from one mine

watched as anna blight sold the OVER 35,000 hectares of state forrests
for a measly 800 million..when selling it as house blocks[ie true value..could have cleared the whole debt..that will reach 75 BILLION later next year

i watched the price of electicity double
as they went building pipelines to gas wells
al the way to gladstone..for export..for private gain

and calling that 'infastructure'
till the gas runs out

watched as she seized the water
[and continue watching as the councils NOW disolve all connex]...so some public servants could collect nice bonus alround..on the board's

watched a billion thrown into a desal plant
