http://www.fairewinds.com/ Prof Arnie Gunderson clarifys some of the realities that our whole planet now faces. The easily detected Gamma rays are the least of our worries.Tokoyo Electric now reveals that the threat is far worse than announced.

Hot particles or Alpha rays are not easily detected and in the month of April, people in Tokoyo were injesting an average of 10 per day.In Seattle USA it was 5 per day. These Hot Particles remain in our bodies for yrs and become a serious potential for causing cancer. It will be at least a yr before Fukushima can come under some control. There are many parts of Europe that are still polluted and not used as farms because of Chernobyl.Fukushima is many times worse. This could be the worst long term health concern for millions on the planet but our silent death via radiation and cancer will not make headlines.

Farming land in the Southern Hemisphere will become extremely valuable since our soils will be much cleaner. Our Govts now allow fracking of Coal seam gas to destroy our prime farm land and pollute the water table.Food will become more precious than gas in the near future.

ah yes gas frakking
this absurdity...
leaking greenhouse gas..[methane]

coasting us the earth..so santos can sell our wealth
via pipelines govt so generously grants..like lollies
to its mates...just like the coal clive palmers sells to china

we the people will give it to alp party bosses
letting them build hyper fast lines of export...gas lines
at public infastructures cost's and loss caried by the people
[paying for..or rather building their gas pipelines..rail..to gladsone]

the socalled 'infastructure'..costs
helping to double..the cost of electicity/gas...locally

[seen the advert
of acres of steel pipes?]
in the TOO many..'origin'..adverts..
we are also paying for..

the radioactivity..takes me back...
[to when we were blowing up the atominc bombs]
who's radioactive dust got onto our air/toobaco/food/wood
..and into our lungs

...causing the ratio's of lung cancers
[that sees the rate of non-smoking lung cancers..
equal that proportuinatly..of smokers...

[we all inhaled the atomic dust]
yet smokers are the only ones getting the blame

just as other 'blames'..will be made next time..
cancer cluster's egsist...you non smokers..with your mobile phones
will still get cancer...eat sick food..work in sick workplaces..but

we all die in the end
only some of us will give more tax to govt than others
and the rich will get a return from their santos monsanto ge..share's

[yet claim no guilt..for what the criminals did]
to all of us..

knowing the future cost..and cause
is hidden..by the current media silence...by spin

come in spinner

Yes OUG there does not seem to be an urgency to clean it up.Perhaps they don't know what to do.Caesium has a half life of 30 yrs and Uranium millions of yrs.Russia had Chernobyl encased in concrete within months but this just continues to spew out radiation.

So everyone needs to be careful when cleaning/replacing any air filters since this is where the particles concentrate. There should be a repositry where these filters can be removed from the environment and sent back to Tepco.

The lunatics who want to expand the wars of imperialism in oil rich countries need to get their priorities straight.Don't hold your breath though.

there isnt much they can do....now
it goes to show how we are too clever by half
[by we im saying ge...who designed the reactors
and the govt oversight agencies who didnt do their due vigelance]

the overeaction continues
now they aqre planning to shut nuke power down
[to be replaced by what?...frakking gas..that leaks methane
and polutes our underground waters?...it plain overeaction

there are many sources of radiation..phones tv's etc
yet look at the death toll..[post hiroshima nagaski]..

ie not directly bomb related...

[relitivly speaking the death toll from one sunami was thoyusands...and from the partial melt down of 3 of the reacters two]

they built the darn things
now like us with coal..are going to go bust
building gas/solar/wind etc...that wont last this century

also this is the time for some common sense
to either emerge or disappear alltogether[im refering to free energy]
things like the joe fuel cell that runs cars on a gas that implodes..[HH2?]...and can be generated at the cost of 4 stainless steel tubes..cosing a few bucks

noting the only modification neded
is advancing the timming 25 degrees
so the implosion occure on the up stroke
not a down stroke explosion

further the claimed qualities
of the matured water from the joe cell
kills radioactivity near instantly...[a very cheap fix]

if we can move away from those NEEDING to proffiteer
from SELLING us petro chemical or batteries..

[ie dammm making proffits
from others fears]
..its time we got into the free energy

then there is magnetic moters
generators driving the generator with magnets
[again free energy]..for the cost of a few magnets

but we are ruled by the greedy money changers
still trying to remove 4/5 the living from their earth
by any means they wish...

even DARING to go so far
as to lend govt the debt
while they get a bailout

how do we get the funds..
from the very banks we are bailing out?

thats to easy if you run the money scam
you simply open a credit account
then rewap in new money from, the intrest
yet the money nwever egsisted in the first place

its really time we AUDITED the fed
to reveal the clever bailout scam

then got on..with GIVING people free energy
yet make EVERY debitor..*pay every cent BACK

[without intrest
or any other penalty]

AUDIT the fed
check the gold at fort knox

stop doing the vile AUSTERIT measures
to your own people

why support a few multinational CORPerations
while mudering exploiting billions of LIVING people
into impoverishment via AUSTERITY measures...empoverishing the globe's life forms

It is a tragedy Arjay. And thanks for your informative and relative post.

Whilst the tragedy in Japan is indeed a tragedy of monumental proportions, gas frakking is bone stupidity. World experience already shows that this practice is an environmental disaster waiting to happen. Not the answer to a clean energy future in the slightest.

Fukushima has been one big cover up right from the beginning. It will be years before the full effects are known and yes I agree another Chernobyl in the making and yes probably far worse.

The only silver lining is that it might make the world wake up to the dangers of nuclear power. Germany's already phasing it out and hopefully more will follow.

Arjay and OUG, make sure you catch the SBS repeat of 'Gasland' this Tuesday night if you haven't already seen it. A must-see if ever there was one.

Our own little Gasland is brewing in Queensland. Hopefully the Greens and the Lock the Gate campaign can gain some traction and bring a halt to this rampaging and destructive industry. With gas set to become the new coal, it will be a tall order.

That's all very well - lets not use nuclear, get rid of coal, and dont let gas be developed. The elephant in the room here is that no-one has thus suggested alternatives. Given that we are all on-line, obviously you like using your electricity as much as I do. So what do you propose to do about it? We all love using the stuff but no-one wants their backyard impacted by any side-effects. Hypocrites....

Australia has huge gas resources and I have always considered using this resource as the optimal while we transition to renewables. The the infrastructure is in place already, whereas switching to nuclear (apart from all its attendant problems, as only demonstrated too recently with Fukushima) would use money that can be better used for the long term investment into cleaner renewable and, therefore, sustainable energy forms.

At present we urgently need further research into wind technology - given that there may be unwanted side effects of living too close to wind farms. We have already produced more efficient and economical solar panels, we have yet to harness hydro-power from our almost endless coastlines, then there is thermal energy and why aren't we utilising methane?, given that we produce a lot (some more than others) and again we have infrastructure already in place.

If the fossil energy industries want to survive, why are they not at the forefront instead of attempting to maintain 20th century thinking?

To all, I agree fracking is short term gain for dire long term consequences, the water table is the main issue, and I know a little about that.

Just to side bar, the reason half this crap is going on is either the inability or desire the of the press to report the news in a manner fitting the item. A footy player who gets thrown out of a night club gets front page and fracking gets 4 column inches on page 9. Other than the Australian the only other bastion of “report what is evident” is the Macquarie Broadcasting Network in Sydney. Controlled by John Singleton, it is a fair dinkum no bulldust arena for the truth. Both sides of politics are slaves to the frackers, , our only salvation and I hate to say it will be the Greens because the national media and the frackers are one and the same.

Ammonite:>> Australia has huge gas resources and I have always considered using this resource as the optimal<<

Ammonite, I take it by this statement that you are going to start up a fracking operation in the back yard, watch out for the sewer lines.

There other big issue is the importing of food.Even pollution from Chernobyl,Dr Helen Caldicott says don't eat nuts from Turkey. Our super markets are buying up cheap food that may well have radiation or some other problem. There are no checks on the quality and how do you prove criminal negligence? This is why there s the growth of organic foods.

Our Govts care not for the environment or your health.Their prime concern is their power base and the money to justify it.We live in an oligarchy not democracy.

It's all horribly true and "what has happened to our media" ?.

Country Gal, I strongly urge you to watch the repeat of the program "Gasland" on the SBS.
You will witness for yourself real country people, with their rights completely trashed and their futures and their land's future unknown.

Gas frakking is an absolute disgrace no matter how it is spelt. Regardless of the alternatives this is just insanity.

Hi thinker, saw it the first time around. Yes I agree there are major issues. Not the least of which corporate greed is largely unregulated in the US (we could improve here too, but its still much better). I also agree that mining or fracking near and on our best farmlands is pretty stupid. My issue though is that the same people that campaign against such things are usually the first to complain their power prices are on the rise (and/or put their hand out for benefits to help them cope).

SoG

Don't make assumptions.

Fracking would have to be one of the worst ways of releasing gas, ruining perfectly good farmland and completely unnecessary given our natural gas reserves (to which I was referring) off shore.

Enough easily obtained until transition to renewables can take up most of the demand.
