Conservative country voters are so angry at Oakeshott and Windsor for delivering government to Labor that not only are they suffering from huge swings in voter sentiment, but all the independents are suffering similar swings, as voters question the "independence" of the independents

"VOTER support for Rob Oakeshott has fallen through the floor according to confidential polling conducted for the NSW Nationals since the independent MP pledged his support for Julia Gillard's carbon tax. Mr Oakeshott has lapsed into net negative approval, according to the poll.

Anger towards Mr Oakeshott and his fellow independent NSW MP Tony Windsor, who also backs the minority Labor government and the Prime Minister's carbon tax, is now threatening the viability of several state independent MPs at the March 26 election."

My only post in this thread.
Sir you feed the hate that has been bought in to AUSTRALIAN politics by your ambitious leader.
You do no good for your side and ignore the great number [including Labor senators] who over the years voted with your side.
Today your dysfunctional team said our Treasurer and Prime Minister are as bad as ? the insane murderous leader of Libya!
My next thread will be about other than politics, we need to reduce the heat, across Australia, generated by a new tool in politics, one without honor.
Both mentioned members of Parliament have been threatened with death, I hope we never come to that .
I will not feed that hate or you.
But am required by my heart to post just one denial in your threads.

Well put Belly.

The emergence of a 'tea party' type conservative uprising is the last thing Australia needs, nor the rhetoric that goes with it.

Never mind SM, I said after they sided with labor to form government that they had taken a huge risk, one that may well have just signed their own death warrants (literally speaking), because if labor failed, they to would fall on their swords.

I also said that if labor and these guys failed the people, that I would not likely see another labor government for the rest of my time. Probably the best outcome I could have hoped for and one well worth waiting another three years for. Perhaps three years is a bit ambitious.

As usual, we are only privy to some of the facts.

The things we don't know are,
How much will power go up.How much will fuel increase.
How much will our cost of living increase by.
What will be the threshold (if any) for compensation from these rises. Will she target a combined income of $48K again! Less than low income earners get. So who will get reliefe?

I have also heard that their modeling is based on some $26 per ton, yet they have mentioned $48 per ton. Which one is it. There is a huge difference, some 85% in fact.

Does this mean our out of pocket expenses will be another 85% on top of predictions?

This smells of the NBN, the mining tax, no real substance. Nobody knows the facts.

One can only assume that niether do they.

The ducks are lining up ready to form a row!

Belly and Pelican,

Your comments are about Rob Oakeshott how?

Juliar whilst not as murderous as Gaddafi is certainly as delusional.

It doesn't bother her to lie and twist the truth continually. Some porkers:

"The NBN will improve competition" whilst writing legislation to obliterate competition,

"Carbon pricing is widely supported by industry" whilst getting support from only a handful.

etc

AS for RO, he is attaching his star to Labor, but no one will touch his treacherous hide with a barge pole after 2013.

Belly my china, no need to respond to this but let’s look at this issue of Oakeshott and his unrepresentative representation of the voters in his electorate.

The seat of Port came to be after changes in 1988. The whole area was traditionally Nats. The seat of Port has NEVER had a Labor member.

The 2007 election,

Rob Oakeshott IND 67.1% +3.2
Leslie Williams NAT...19.4%...+0.9
Monica Hayes ALP...9.1%...-0.8

In 2007 the Nats grew by 1% and the Labor vote decreased by 1%, even the trend was against Labor. In the 2008 by-election there was no Labor candidate. I guess Oakshott was already sewn up by the 2008 bi election, what foresight.

Whatever the electorate saw Oakshott as it was certainly not Labor, has never been Labor, and by today’s poll will never be Labor.

The fraudulent travesty of an elected representative giving support to the traditional opposing ideology of the electorate is nothing short of treacherous. This self serving buffoon is despised by my moral compass, but not because he supported the Labor party, rather his saying of up yours to the people who supported and elected him and the subsequent loss of all THEIR expectations of THEIR elected voice. They did not vote for Oakshott’s or Windsor’s voice but that is what they got, these self serving despots were to be THEIR voice.

Belly betrayal is the most common motive for murder amongst we civilized bags of water, I can understand the simplistic despising Oakeshott and Windsor to the point that their sense of betrayal triggers the emotions to threatening the ultimate retribution in human terms. I do not see it as how low we have sunk, I see it as how treacherous and corrupt the servants of the people have become.

rehctub:>> The ducks are lining up ready to form a row!<<

Rehctub my primary concern is regarding the Liberal marksmen proficiency, are they good enough to hit the ducks, I personally doubt it. I have my hopes firmly placed on self harm via the further pain they will bring to the plebs.

Ah, the word twisting game is on again.. As bad as the insane murderous leader of Libya!
I only heard them say as delusional as my people love me Ghaddafi.
What is just as delusional is the phrase open & transparent Government.

Dear Belly, it’s good to hear that your post is the only one we can expect on this thread. Don’t know why you have given up on your right of reply, other than the fact that you probably don’t have one.

I actually quite like the heat in this debate, that’s because it is the “warmertariat” that is currently feeling it. The agnostics in this debate have been abused, vilified, trivialized and disenfranchised for far too long. So it’s good to see the friction caused by the warmertariat, generating the inevitable heat. Also remember that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

We needed someone really, really stupid, to put themselves in a really, really stupid situation and do something really, really stupid to get out of it.

We are indeed grateful for two really, really stupid politicians to get together to turn up the heat on each other. All we have to do now is sit back and watch as the two of them implode and take the last vestiges of the warmertariat with them.

This is real entertainment.

You would be surprised what I think of Oakeshott, I am not a fan. I suspect he is in for a short term anyway if his electorate is disappointed in his choices. Given the preferences went to the Nats I reckon he will be a one termer.

I was more talking about the rhetoric given recent threats, but maybe it was unintentional.

Dearest spindoctor

Please don't flatter or delude yourself. Going by your profile history, you are most definitely NOT agnostic. Typically, you have spun it (appropriate tag) 180 degrees.

In fact, it seems you have been vilifying and denigrating the mainstream ever since you first posted on OLO - that is your right.

Yes, there is imbecilic anger out there. So much so that elected representatives are receiving death threats (and more) from your so called "disenfranchised". You are quiet on that, but I am not surprised.

Dear bonmot,

<<NOT agnostic>>? As I’ve just written to our PM. “

“The only resolution to this vexatious and divisive debate is to firstly test the science. A public inquiry including evidence from both advocacy and skeptical science should be held. Following the published results, any government has a duty to seek a mandate for such serious and long term impacts upon the Australian community and economy”.

Why would anyone in their right minds seek to deny that this is not an agnostic perspective or that the Australian public should be denied democracy?

That I have been <<been vilifying and denigrating the mainstream>> on OLO. Ah so! “Interesting grasshopper”. So the warmertariat is now “mainstream”? Ooops!

<<Yes, there is imbecilic anger out there>>

So those who are angry are “imbeciles”?

Why are these Australians angry bonmot? Could it be that they feel cheated? Are being sacrificed upon the altar of compromise? Are feeling disenfranchised? Are feeling that we are being denied democracy? That the independents have in some way disappointed their electorates? That the current administration did not have a mandate for such policies? Or that Australia is rapidly becoming ungovernable?

I don’t condone death threats under any circumstances; they are against every tenet of my personal values, anti-democratic and symptoms of sickness and dysfunctional thinking.

You suggest that <<“elected representatives are receiving death threats (and more) from your so called "disenfranchised">>.

bonmot, for you to suggest that “MY” disenfranchised are responsible for these death threats is delusional. What you really mean is any member of the Australian electorate that does not share your views is responsible. Have I been “quiet” enough for you on this?

Some might reasonably take the view that your lack of grip on reality and your outrageous belligerence are not balanced by your audacity.

When next you sit at your computer, just remember this, Rio Tinto, does not actually “mine” computers, wind farms, electric cars or solar panels, they are a product of industrial production and have a massive carbon dioxide foot print. Unless of course, you know different?

Show us the link with C02.

Oh wow, spindoc … you’ve just written to the PM.
Can we look forward to you posting her response to you right here, on this thread?

Of course, as a true agnostic, you would have also written to the opposition leader. Asking inter alia, why he and his partisans think it’s “crap”? Or why (if it's crap) does he have a climate change policy?

Ok, you can’t tell the difference between mainstream science and your brand of post-normal internet armchair pseudo-science. I can accept that (with the exclamation back-at-ya).

“Yes, there is imbecilic anger out there.” >> So those who are angry are “imbeciles”? <<

You really do literally spin it. Try learning some grammar and English usage … it helps comprehension and makes dialogue with people much easier.

Show you the link, spindoctor?
View your own OLO history - many commenters have shown you, various links. Just because you put your thumbs in your ears, your fingers in your eyes, and scream in denial of the science, does not mean you haven’t been shown links ... you have been, numerous times.

The rest of your post is condescending shill; it does not entertain a respectful response.

"Oh wow, spindoc … you’ve just written to the PM."

Good luck with that. It will sit there unread for weeks and then be referred to the relevant department.

If you want something done or to get a response the best avenue is approach the Independents, the Opposition or sympathetic media. Maybe even start your own blog or group demanding further investigation into (whatever the issue).

Write a petition as any Senator can table it on your behalf:
http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/work/petitions/petitions.htm

Also use FOI to obtain documents where there may be contrary arguments and advice in the debate and consultations leading up to 'policy'.

I think the input of Tony Windsor has been a shining light in our new Alliance Govt.

Rob Oakeshot also acted with conviction and due consideration when not aligning with the Abbott led Coalition. Their disgraceful gang tactics on Oakeshot, is evidence alone as to why why no thinking person would have, or could have, accepted partnership with such an untrustworthy bunch of whining, extremist, racist, climate change skeptics and generally irrelevant to reality people, that the Federal Feral Coalition opposition have become.

Not even Bob Catter is entirely sure he did the right thing.

Regardless of how I feel about the Labor Party (and I don't), enough is enough,
just elect a new leader Coalition, and clean out the extremist crackpots from your front bench,
Morrison, Bernadi etc, they make me ashamed to be Australian.

Regardless any Coalition Govt for the next term will have to deal with the Greens.

So dreaming of displacing Oakeshot by character assassination, wont make any real difference at all, and indicates the level of intellect we are dealing with here.

Thinker2,

RO is supposed to represent the interests of his constituents. By their reaction he has clearly not done so, and subsequent antics such as a desire for a cabinet seat or speaker has shown that it was done primarily for self interest.

His bait and switch tactics will follow him forever, and I doubt he could get elected dog catcher after this.

Windsor who has shown more restraint is also polling very badly in his constituency that he has led for a long time, and is scheduled for retirement in 2013 whether he planned to or not.

That is a really unfortunate gloat SM.

I don't think it matters to Windsor, whether he survives 2013 or not, as long as he gets something done before that. So far he's showing all the signs of a conviction politician. It isn't about power for this guy!. I'm just glad his intellect is part of the Gov't we have.

What a brave and fine new world we are experiencing, in the new Australian political landscape. One where a range of views are heard.

Better get used to it SM, I for one am liking it.

With the labor primary vote plumbing depths never before charted, Tony Windsor must be realising that his only chance of any credibility is to abandon the Titanic (labor) and jump ship, and there are rumours abounding.

If there is a no confidence vote, Juliar is finished, and there is no clear successor.

I can hardly wait.
