Are our kids being exploited by football clubs

There are several large football clubs in the Brisbane area and they all have one thing in common, they have hundreds of kids playing football each week throughout the footy season.

But when you take a closer look at these clubs, one can't help but think that many of them are simply using the kids as a 'front', as their real aim is to fleece our community of valuable dollars to feed their pocker machines.

Most clubs have been established via 'grants' and, if not for the tireless efforts of volenteers, I doubt these clubs would even funcion.

They have CEO's on huge salaries, along with many 'perks for the boys' who happen to be directors.

So, should these clubs be allowed to continue like this, making huge profits from the community, while their kids mums and dads run 'chook raffles' just to provide uniforms, water bottles and the likes, or, should they be made to forego their huge profits and bonuses for the betterment of the kids who they shield themselves behind?

Now I know business is business, but not at the expense of the kids.

Rectum my old sparing partner.
Your thread is descriptive.
I found some thing in it, a grumpy old man, you.
Kids, mums dads, get a lot out of weekend football, cricket base ball so many sports.
Horse jumping showing it gos on.
Grants?
A thousand chook raffles power some clubs, from ten thousand members to 22 they exist for, sport and recreation.
Those poker machines, bad as they are,and they are, fund community's kids hospitals and in my state?
Taxed to the max they fund rat bag politicians who waste in on drawing up plans the do not intend to proceed with.

I feel that Rugby league is totally corrupted and I think the best option is to distance self and family from it.

I can agree with the first poster but i also think that sport at a community level serves a purpose. Howevere, there msut be other ways for sports to fund themselves than through poker machines. The link between kids'sport and gambling worries me. (and no, I'm not a wowser) Personally i think that Australians place too much emphasis on sport.
