When I had my last heart attack, the ambulance took 45 minutes to get there. No wonder, when you see the lumbering great things they use today.
It's a good thing the bloke knew his stuff, & got the fix going, as it was another hour before we got to the local hospital. Told you those things were slow. The chinese, [or what ever he is] doctor at our little hospital is so good, he had me mostly sorted within a few minutes of getting his hands on me. Then the real danger to life. They stuck me into one of the emergency helicopter, & sent me into the cardiac specialists, in the big smoke. I tell you, if the engine in one of my vehicles vibrated or shook as badly as that chopper, I'd dump the thing, probably on Ruddies front lawn, but that's another topic. I was much more worried about dying in an air crash, than of a heart problem. Fair dinkum, you've got a pretty good chance of surviving a heart attack, with most of our doctors these days, but once they get you into one of those vehicles, air or road, I reckon your odds drop alarmingly. In the United States, more than 60 million Americans have some form of cardiovascular disease. About 2600 people die every day of cardiovascular disease. Cancer, the second largest killer, accounts for only half as many deaths.
_When it comes to heart disease,it the number one enemy. It's smoking.Smoking. Most people know that cigarette and tobacco smoking increases your risk of lung cancer, but fewer realize that it also greatly increases your risk of heart disease and peripheral vascular disease (disease in the vessels that supply blood to the arms and legs). According to the American Heart Association, more than 400,000 Americans die each year of smoking-related illnesses. Many of these deaths are because of the effects of smoking on the heart and blood vessels. http://www.stopsmokinghabits.com Posted by stopsmokinghabits.com, Saturday, 27 February 2010 1:39:43 PM

I answered, "Yes. What do you think should be our #1 killer?" He didn't answer.
Some day I'll die. I would rather die from a massive heart attack than from cancer, war, accident or anything else I can think of. I would prefer to put off the massive heart attack for a while. However, if it should happen while I'm asleep that would be the best way to go.
Anybody got any better candidates for #1 killer?
