Every thing he posts is an add for his blog.
And why another thread on the subject? We have two now. Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 23 February 2010 4:38:41 PM

So you don't get it eh?
Well to be frank, its not intended to be clear enough to allow someone to clean up the mess and keep going. The mess is growing and will keep growing. All governments are good at covering up their stuffups and my advice is not the sort that can used by the media savy to adjust the image - been there done that . The point of the blog prediction is simply to warn Labor that it doesn't know how to really motivate people on the environment and all the money in the world won't be enough till they face that basic issue more effectively . Dear Hanrahan,
Emissions trading and action on climate change will not disappear - especially in this election year. Those politicians still in denial - as I wrote on another thread - how about we send them to live on one of the fast disappearing Pacific Islands and see if tree planting is going to help! If you don't quite get it yet .....Ask yourself this question
Why is Labor being taken to task for implementation of a really good idea ? Answer : Because good ideas are not enough. Because Labor reactionaries across the country don't take seriuosly the HOW questions on sustainability. Its not the ideas, but the successful implemenattion of those ideas that keeps leaders in power . Any idiot can have a good idea , but only Wong , Garrett and others with a limited practical bent are happy to allow people with very limited experience to advise them on how to implement an improved environment program. http://designwithnature.blogspot.com Posted by Hanrahan, Thursday, 25 February 2010 12:27:25 PM

Foxy,
Last time I read about it, the bottom had fallen out of carbon at the Chicargo exchange and the european trading scheme was riddled with scams. Given the track record of this government running things, one would be pretty game to buy carbon credits here. It seems now that the Pacific Islands, and the Maldives, where the sea is 'rising', are not Islands at all but Atolls. Which means they have no firm foundation and their bases are coral. Apparently they are subject to subsidence from time to time. That answers why there is no dramatic sea level rises elswhere. It also appears that the, so called, Islander that made the teary and emotional speech to the Copenhagen delegates, pleading to save 'his home', is actually an Aussie and lives at Queanbeyan. His wife refused to answer when asked if he had ever been to the island. Distortion and exageration seems normal for AGW advocates. Posted by Banjo, Monday, 1 March 2010 10:36:00 PM

As I understand it, one of the major problems for atolls (especially) and small islands generally is contamination of the water supplies due to ingress of sea water into the typical lenticular aquifers that underlie these islands. Even if that doesn't happen, drawing down the aquifer can lead to subsidence and loss of capacity.
One of my colleagues in a previous life was heavily involved with surveying the water supplies of many such islands in the 80s and he was very pessimistic indeed. Posted by Antiseptic, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 7:33:50 AM

Thanks Banjo . Its no fun watching sound concerns for the complex matters of conservation being eroded by people who go off half cocked and don't study the matters properly.http://designwithnature.blogspot.com The greens are erdoding their political base by trying to be spokesman for things that require great precision and sound practical politics .
If I was Wong or Rudd , I would want a few green heads to roll, and not just into another new empire .(Atols are also notoriusly unstable due to their geological roots ) Posted by Hanrahan, Tuesday, 2 March 2010 9:46:37 AM

Instead of a reasoned balance between carrot and stick, all we see is wild extremes: fear campaigns on one hand and gift campaigns on the other . Instead of a truly local education revolution, we have our politicians giving up education to the market.
Instead of targeted professional incentive advice, we have industry getting the stick, and Father Christmas Kevin handing out carrots to anyone who can claim personhood. Instead of the needed discussion about personal responsibility, we have more offerings to do more for the spoilt children of this Country . Tell me the children are not in charge and The Three Amigos are really able to open their mouths and say N O . http//childrenincharge.blogspot.com
