But even before the start the pay for view super sales adds bored me.
Love sport all sport but snow sport?
No not even following the results .
Wounder if pay per view made is money out of it?

I catch what I can on 9. I just dread an Aussie getting a medal coz the network milks it like a prize cow. You don't see anything else after that.

No doubt about it I AM a cynic.
But the hard sell, the reveling in our Canadian Aussie, well done mate have a happy life here or there, but it says something to me.
Desperation in filling time spots in pay and commercial TV then selling it?
How many of us get involved in such sport.
Who gos to the snow?
I suspect many who paid to watch are now refugees from the whole thing.

I tend to agree. Snow sport, especially competitive snow sport, is really an activity for a wealthy or very dedicated few. I've only ever been to the snow once, despite living and working in the Southern Highlands of NSW for several years, only a short drive from the snowfields. The sheer cost of it was a significant factor.

I agree,I thought that the young kids at the local skate park were boring but to televise it from Canada makes it even more boring.
Remember the good old days when we were intro duced to our Ice Skaters ,I mean Torvill and Dean not the russian speed skaters.
The Channels have taken out of work Footy comperes and turned them into ski experts, what a bore and I love all sports!

I and my ancestors came from the southern highlands, like snow but not sports.
I see a young lady won gold?
Goodonya girl.
Not sure what sport and do not care much.
Might get a look at snow on the Gloster tops one day but not rushing.

Dear Belly,

Totally agree.
Snow sports - boring!

If I want to see beautiful Canada - I'll watch Getaway.
Like the other night when they featured - Banff National
Park. The spectacular scenery - the lakes, glaciers,
icecapped Rocky mountains - the province of Alberta.
All brought back so many happy memories. I still
have several eskimo sculptures bought there.

And the hot mineral springs - were so relaxing!

I much prefer watching Getaway - to the winter games -
or our news ... Just think - with the Election nearing -
TV viewing is only going to get worse - and nasty!
The Libs answer for anything is Attack. Every time one
of them opens their mouth - I can't help but think -
"They're depriving some poor village of its IDIOT!"

Yes foxy it must be very beautiful, but I too find the sport boring.
Given the very hard sell of pay per view I just have to ask.
Do they think every thing is salable, well maybe it is on Pay TV.
We do pay for things I would never watch in my youth, yes that old.
Finishes soon doesn't it? please.

Am I watching the Winter Games?

Yes, but only barely noticing rather than avidly watching.

Saw the men's figure skating last night - it was magnificent, elegant you name it. Loved the fast spins from a crouched position where the skater changed shape with his arms. It looked just like a bit of clay on a pottery wheel take shape and coming to life.

But the cross-country skiing, luge and skeleton for me are about on a par with watching equestrian sports. Totally predictable and boring.

Whatever its faults, the sports in the winter games look alot more interesting than many in the summer games. Nothing that I have watched is half as boring as synchronised diving, equestrian events, pistol shooting or race walking.
