In old testament days it was a life for a life. Then Jesus came and the paradyne shifted in favour of forgivness. Western thought was on the Judao Christian paradyne. In the 70's the paradyne was changed to the humanist world view. So there are three different views, 3 ways to approach this problem. So what makes your way the right way for it depends which pair of glasses you view the problem through and I have always believed there are many ways to skin a cat. Where there is unity God commands the blessing and to get and keep unity takes effort. The blessing is better then the curse in my opinion.
