I could not help but feel pangs of sadness last night as I watched Kim Clijsters accept her winners trophy at the Brisbane International Womens Singles Final.

This was the moment that Kim decided to donate her hard won prizemoney of $37,000 to the Royal Children`s Hospital in Brisbane, and only a day after our ever-caring State Government had announced an $80 Million "injection" of taxpayer funds ( over a period of four years ) into the "embattled" Queensland Horse Racing Industry!..coincidentally Treasurer Andrew Fraser was a spectator in the crowd at the Trophy presentation, making one wonder if perchance he just may have a slight pang of conscience or even guilt at this latest display of Government largesse in the ongoing distribution of Taxpayer funds?

It is a shame that Ms Bligh and her lot seem to consider that the Racing Industry is a much more deserving cause than the Royal Childrens Hospital, yet a visitor from another country can recognise this real area of need!

"Aussie" Kim, you have certainly won a few more hearts with your generous and caring attitude toward the less fortunate children who need to spend time in the Royal Childrens Hospital,.....well done!

Sports people get so overpaid beyond a joke. She seems to appreciate that by re-investing into the community that provided the prize. That being where the money should have gone to in the first place. Good to read. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry crack up, a thread exists on this subject.
It may well have been Worth a read before plunging in.
Are you aware just how big an industry gambling is?
Or the sale price to governments of TAB,s
Crack up do you know NSW cleared well in access of $888.888.000 in that sale?
That continuing tax takes would be far more in one year than the QLD grant?
And mate how much Australia's biggest race prize money brings to the Gold coast each year.
Now we can say, if we wish, grants for floods, droughts, much more are unfair, but honesty says we must support industry's like farming or perish racing supports us not the other way around.
