The banning was over turned, but still, don't bother trying to figure them out mate, you'll only go insane. IT's RIDICULOUS not having a 18+ classification.
I write for a gaming website and this has been driving us nuts for a LONG time. Here's the overturn. http://www.oflc.gov.au/www/cob/classification.nsf/Page/InformationCentre_MediaReleases_2009MediaReleases The government is currently seeking public input regarding an 18+ classification so PLEASE have your say before Feb here: http://www.ag.gov.au/gamesclassification Posted by StG, Saturday, 2 January 2010 4:42:06 PM

BrettH,
You could, at least, let readers know what you are on about without them having to read well into your post. Its about film censorship, right? Secondly, I would not clasify any person as adult, who spends time watching crap like you discribed in the first sentence. Such people should not be able to vote, drive a vehicle or parent kids, and require a guardian. Maybe you should re-submit your post in the thread relating to mental illness. Banjo, it's about not having an 18+ classification for video games in Australia unlike every other civilised country in the world.
But this post is obviously the equivalent to spam as the info is old and it's lacking vital info. Also, this is the wrong place for it. Your comment is a case in point for the general mentality of the vast percentage of people here. You'll be up in arms about KRudd's internet nanny state but you couldn't give two ... stuffs ... about other sections of the entertainment industry copping the same treatment or even worse based on the absolute hypocrisy if you consider film ratings as a parallel. I'm not into computer gaming, but it does strike me as both illogical and inequitable that there isn't an R18+ classification for adults who derive amusement from that sort of thing.

Firstly in reference to “human characters” in stating this, they are emphasizing on the fact that there is a difference between characters that is not of the human world committing such acts, not being the same as characters that are, also stating that animated actors are real, that the world we live in is the same as an fictional world, where watching or playing games/movies of this nature will result in those persons being immature and incapable of understanding the difference. “Do They?”
Further more in relation to filmography of special features and affects within this game, the classification board members are stating that someone viewing these in a game is affected differently to someone viewing a horror or thriller movie of the same visualisations and filmography.
Final Note: this game is designed for mature adults that are into the war gaming style campaigns’, not for children, it was never designed for children nor was intended to be sold to children.
Adults are not children nor like to treated or referred to as children. Gamers are of all ages and/or generations and cultures that outnumber fictional book readers and will out vote. Take Care!
