Your assertions and attitude certainly confirms their is a devil. IF you have not worked that out yet you are spiritually blind. It sounds like me you have been going it alone. One day however you will face your Maker and no amount of excuses will help you. Look in your own heart honestly and you will see that you no doubt need a Saviour. Thankfully God has provided One for all those humble enough to face up to the obvious. Posted by runner, Monday, 8 June 2009 5:38:19 PM

No, actually Stephen Hawking has argued that there is no place for a creator and that god does not exist. Stephen Hawking uses the term "god" in the same way that Einstein did. Stephen Hawking's alledged belief in a god is a myth that has been put out there by Christians in an attempt to give their unfounded beliefs some undue prestige. Stephen Hawking is an Atheist. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1191454/The-bug-blast-away-cancer-Drug-virus-extends-patients-lives.html A common virus which causes stomach upsets is giving hope to cancer patients - by boosting their immune system and blasting away tumours. Almost 80 patients with advanced forms of liver cancer, head and neck tumours and breast cancer are taking part in trials using a drug made from the reovirus. A number, who have struggled to benefit from chemotherapy, have seen astonishing results, with tumours shrinking and in one case disappearing altogether. Experts say it is too soon to say if Reolysin is the 'magic bullet' that will kill off cancer, but they believe it may offer a way of extending the life of patients given a short time to live. more at http://www.civilrights.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,389.0.html Posted by one under god, Tuesday, 9 June 2009 11:06:34 AM

Perhaps someone prayed the "imprecatory prayer" for Chris?

It's funny how people think God is responsible for the tough stuff that happens.
What's even funnier is people thinking that if you believe in a higher power you're somehow immune to what life has in store... It's bizarre, to me. It's a great loss, losing this Doc. I'm sure he didn't go out blaming God for it. How about we think of all the good this Doctor did with the talents God gave him?. Posted by StG, Wednesday, 10 June 2009 12:37:09 PM

As an atheist it is not 'my God' but the God of others.
Yes I agree that religion unduly influences government policy, although less in a secular country like Australia than in some Middle Eastern nations or in the US where there is a strong Christian influence in politics. Obama and Bush are strong Christians and they probably would not have won government without being so, which should be cause for pause than celebrated.
Whether we like it or agree with it, we are not a facist nation and as such people are free to believe what they wish...and they do.
