Dear Non Farmer,
I'm afraid that you're going to be disappointed in quite a few responses to your topics unless in your opening posts you make it quite clear what subject it is that you'd like discussed. In your opening post on this site you introduce Antony Lowenstein and asked the question, "Why should a peacemaker be met with derision and hate?" I assumed that was what you wanted to discuss. So I proceeded to direct my answer to the question you asked. Had you made it clear that you wanted to discuss the effects and causes of derision and hatred in our society, you would have saved me a great deal of time and effort. Sure Petal. I know that sometimes it’s difficult.
But now you have my concerns expanded, sufficient for your leisurely perusal. Yet from my perspective you seem to keep talking about yourself and not about the topic originally raised and then expanded upon for your convenience. In fact its remarkable how nobody seems to care about the next generation at about age 25; their suddenly growing ‘tits on their shoulderblades’ after being subject to what is now overwhelmingly acknowledged as harmful electrical fields at a critical time in their youth. So forgive me 'Foxy'; it’s not ME being vague. I come to believe that, out there, some lack of comprehension, haste at reading, conflict of interest, or as easy as 'just plain irresponsibility', may, either singly or in combination, be contributing factors towards turning this show to mush. Now that I’ve pointed this out may we PLEASE get back to the shocking state of governance in what Ms.Bligh calls ‘the most accountable government in Australia’? I find it significant that she doesn’t mention ‘in the Commonwealth’ – but that might be past the understanding of the regular Joe in the street. Oh. One last thing. Like Colombo I have to ask – why is it that only a very distracting select few get to reply? Could it be that those who actually have concerns about bad governance and resultant childhood onset leukemia end up having the same perplexing ‘server errors’, ‘net bombs’, and similar bugs that I’ve been copping the last few days? Sorry, that’s two. But anyway why not take my humble advice and look at – http://www.ejfi.org/Civilization/Civilization-14.htm Makes sense to me! quote by a non farmer<<why is it that only a very distracting select few get to reply?>>thats unfair..[i re-read your question and still am unsure what your asking]..

Hello ‘One Under God”,
This blog has a contributor’s list – correct? Top left side – click on ‘users’ Some of my contributions you can find listed there relate to what has happened in my district – A very necessary project – the upgrade of power in town. It’s a major project and therefore on paper followed the planning format usual for major public works. Stakeholders, affected persons, landholders to be contacted and advised prior to and during project – that sort of thing. But here in my home town they don’t do things the same way as they do in the rest of OZ. In my town it ain’t transparency in governance – its opacity, misinformation and collusion. In my town they don’t let you know they’re going to bury three bloody great 11,000 volt cables just under your bedroom window until mid Thursday afternoon with an intended Monday morning start. Faced with that startling news I contacted Both Minister and shadow minister, our mayor and googled all weekend for advice and technical papers about high voltage, non-ionising radiation and resultant health deficits. What I discovered was very bad news for us. Meanwhile I’ve discovered that the electrical utility has been given leave by our ever vigilant local government to plonk down an electrical sub-station just a few metres down the road. Now that would be fine except it is shoehorned tightly between two pre-existing locations, a children’s playground on one side and a scout’s meeting hall on the other. While thinking about that I discovered all the information about the nature of emissions from these installations – childhood onset leukemia and a host more. Not only was the project conducted in a sneaky, underhanded way but signed off and approved by elected councilors who were either uninformed or criminally irresponsible. Now do you understand? well clearly your efforts would best be rewarded by informing the parents with kids in the scout hall[and childminding center]..to do a protest on monday..to prevent the process by weight of numbers
maybe you could have coordinated media..[got it in fridays papers [and sundays by organising a photo op..with a few banners and a few supporters also should maybe have filed an apeal with the courts for a stop work order.. maybe should have spent time writing what you know simply..into a mail box drop..[via a leaflet]to garner support...its not your fault that you dont know what to do [but i dont know about buttons..still havnt used it..but do know this is the first i heard it put clearly,..anyhow you have 3 days to get at least 20 local people concerned enough about it..before monday] simply put the facts simply..[them cables going to be running past a lot of homes...if you do your job they will help on monday maybe get a lawyer to put a lien on the electrical agencies property for future damages[they hate liens, stops them using the asset for credit and complicates their balance sheet for some reason hitch-hikers guide to the universe comes to mind[the plans must have been on display somewhere] Posted by one under god, Friday, 22 May 2009 4:35:51 PM

Someone told me the purpose of these forums was about discussing the author's topic.
I’ve tried to raise a few that I hold to be important – yet the majority of responses don’t even touch the topic.
Meanwhile if one persists – then out from under the log comes the ridicule.
Intrigued with this I decided to look at how others got on – hence finding Mr. Leowenstein’s page of letters incoming.
So, ‘Foxy, while it is good of you to precis’ Antony’s writing it doesn’t directly help us work towards a saner society. Nonetheless thanks for being supportive of his work.
I don’t mind lateral thinking or the odd dummy being spat out but hate and distraction fail us all.
The question remains about some public interest issues caused by ‘governance’.
If I have recent grave concerns about the local skatebowl having an emitter of non-ionising radiation built right next door it does not mean that I like skateboards or their annoying jockeys; nor does it mean that I want the district’s electricity turned off.
What it IS about is the way that governments here are going the same arbitrary way and making more injurious, injudicious, decisions that some perceive as only happening overseas.
What I believe to share with Antony is an understanding that if governments refuse to abide by their own standards and are SEEN to do so then the observer has a perfect right to object and seek redress.
I see a failure of governance in Australia edging close to the collapse of civil society more or less by copying these strategies –
www.ejfi.org/Civilization/Civilization-14.htm
To quote – “It is a mistake to think that early in a fascist shift you see the profile of barbed wire against the sky. In the early days, things look normal on the surface; peasants were celebrating harvest festivals in Calabria in 1922; people were shopping and going to the movies in Berlin in 1931. Early on, as W.H. Auden put it, the horror is always elsewhere”.
