I was reading the pages of Antony Loewenstein today and found his incoming letters list.
I shared them with my Lady Wife.
Neither of us could believe the hate being sent his way.
Why should a peacemaker be met with derision and hate??

Some months back I sent some words along to his blog mainly because I understood what he was saying and while maybe disagreeing in tiny detail, found a great deal of respect for his views.
This is a bloke whose mind soars with the eagles.

Antony won’t even admit to me that those who try to shout him down are stuck on the ground like turkeys.
Well, I’ve said it myself.

I’ve been writing into this ‘forum’ again recently trying to raise fair comment about some local public interest issues.
Strikes me that if one keeps one’s inputs (what would be the word) mouselike – then no comment results.
But if one raises real issues – then one is shouted down in short order.
What’s been happening to my inputs recently has been happening to Antony and has been escalated way beyond full-time in his case.

So which of you bravos out there will offer to cut my throat for writing this?

I have to ask a simple question. Why classify yourself as a non farmer? What prejudice do have against farmers? Without farmers,we would all starve.

Dear Arjay,
Give us all a break!

Regardez –

It's simple.
I don't have 'green thumbs'.
I'm not a farmer.
I'm an engineer.

Mr. Loewenstein might get a chuckle when I say to you that "some of my best friends happen to be farmers".

Of course, that might 'fly over your head' – how an engineer in a rural region might prize his peers at agriculture.
A 'Farmer' was best man at our wedding.
As it happens most of my friends happen to be bloody good farmers.
It outrages me that many of them have lately been forced off their land.
If I had my way none of that would be happening.

While on that subject I could say a fair deal about who might have caused that.
That might be a future subject for this forum.

Meanwhile I'm used to people who stick to reasoned conversation and some thread of logic.
I believe in cause and effect.
40+ years in engineering have hardwired such attitudes.
I’d like to see some similar attitude from out there.
I’d like to find someone who’d talk sense for a change.

I know there are vital issues out there that the 'media' won't cover.
I’d like to have leave to present my concerns to this forum in some reasonably sequential fashion without being called to task about something as completely ridiculous as my choice of a bloody pen-name.

Kindly try again for your best to respond to what I’d put to this forum.
Either that or go to TAFE for a course in basic civics – EH?

Hey Non Farmer,

I tried in your other thread, asking whether you wanted to write to someone but you never came back.

I personally and desperately am trying to find someone to listen to me regarding the foster children in Australia, the people I have met outside of online have not helped at all.

On here I have had some advice that I am following through in the hope that it works or at least I will be sure I have done what I could. I also have been noticed online, the department paid me a visit so although I was cautioned it is hopeful.

What local public interest issues?

Julie

PS.. I am also a non-farmer but on my birth certificate it lists my fathers occupation as Shepherd.

Dear Non Farmer,

You ask, "Why should a peace maker be met
with derision and hate?"

Possibly because that's a price to pay
for speaking uncomfortable truths.

Antony Loewenstein published a book in 2006,
called, "My Israel Question." Which discusses
the topic of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

In it he discusses issues like the Ashrawi
scandal, Zionism and antisemitism. Zionism
in Australia. The Jewish lobby, the news media
and the lobby. The politics of Zionism in the
USA. He asks the question, "How could a
democratic state maintain a brutal occupation over
another people for over 40 years?"

He reframes the Israel-Palestine conflict from
a very personal perspective. As a result he's
been shunned and ridiculed and has received
growing amounts of hate mail.

He's been accused of being anti-Israel and hostile
towards the Jewish people.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

He supports the right of Israelis to live in peace
and security, but not at the expense of the
Palestinians. And he asks, "Why is the world told
to believe that the Palestinians should only accept
peace on Israel's terms?"

And of course that sort of thinking attracts
hate mail.

I must be dreaming.
Someone told me the purpose of these forums was about discussing the author's topic.
I’ve tried to raise a few that I hold to be important – yet the majority of responses don’t even touch the topic.
Meanwhile if one persists – then out from under the log comes the ridicule.
Intrigued with this I decided to look at how others got on – hence finding Mr. Leowenstein’s page of letters incoming.

So, ‘Foxy, while it is good of you to precis’ Antony’s writing it doesn’t directly help us work towards a saner society. Nonetheless thanks for being supportive of his work.
I don’t mind lateral thinking or the odd dummy being spat out but hate and distraction fail us all.

The question remains about some public interest issues caused by ‘governance’.
If I have recent grave concerns about the local skatebowl having an emitter of non-ionising radiation built right next door it does not mean that I like skateboards or their annoying jockeys; nor does it mean that I want the district’s electricity turned off.

What it IS about is the way that governments here are going the same arbitrary way and making more injurious, injudicious, decisions that some perceive as only happening overseas.
What I believe to share with Antony is an understanding that if governments refuse to abide by their own standards and are SEEN to do so then the observer has a perfect right to object and seek redress.
I see a failure of governance in Australia edging close to the collapse of civil society more or less by copying these strategies –
www.ejfi.org/Civilization/Civilization-14.htm

To quote – “It is a mistake to think that early in a fascist shift you see the profile of barbed wire against the sky. In the early days, things look normal on the surface; peasants were celebrating harvest festivals in Calabria in 1922; people were shopping and going to the movies in Berlin in 1931. Early on, as W.H. Auden put it, the horror is always elsewhere”.

Dear Non Farmer,

I'm afraid that you're going to be disappointed
in quite a few responses to your topics
unless in your opening
posts you make it quite clear what subject it is that
you'd like discussed.

In your opening post on this site you introduce
Antony Lowenstein and asked the question,
"Why should a peacemaker be met with derision
and hate?"

I assumed that was what you wanted to discuss.
So I proceeded to direct my answer to the question
you asked. Had you made it clear that you wanted
to discuss the effects and causes of derision and
hatred in our society, you would have saved me a
great deal of time and effort.

Sure Petal. I know that sometimes it’s difficult.
But now you have my concerns expanded, sufficient for your leisurely perusal.
Yet from my perspective you seem to keep talking about yourself and not about the topic originally raised and then expanded upon for your convenience.

In fact its remarkable how nobody seems to care about the next generation at about age 25; their suddenly growing ‘tits on their shoulderblades’ after being subject to what is now overwhelmingly acknowledged as harmful electrical fields at a critical time in their youth.

So forgive me 'Foxy'; it’s not ME being vague.
I come to believe that, out there, some lack of comprehension, haste at reading, conflict of interest, or as easy as 'just plain irresponsibility', may, either singly or in combination, be contributing factors towards turning this show to mush.

Now that I’ve pointed this out may we PLEASE get back to the shocking state of governance in what Ms.Bligh calls ‘the most accountable government in Australia’?

I find it significant that she doesn’t mention ‘in the Commonwealth’ – but that might be past the understanding of the regular Joe in the street.

Oh. One last thing.
Like Colombo I have to ask – why is it that only a very distracting select few get to reply?
Could it be that those who actually have concerns about bad governance and resultant childhood onset leukemia end up having the same perplexing ‘server errors’, ‘net bombs’, and similar bugs that I’ve been copping the last few days?
Sorry, that’s two.

But anyway why not take my humble advice and look at –
http://www.ejfi.org/Civilization/Civilization-14.htm
Makes sense to me!

quote by a non farmer<<why is it that only a very distracting select few get to reply?>>thats unfair..[i re-read your question and still am unsure what your asking]..

personally i prefer reading new questions/after a few replies are up...so on that theory even non replies help others to read the post..[for those needing to be economical with downloads especially

but i am seeing things i would comment on,..like bligh..qld politics..and other issues..[IF THATS what your seeking responses on]the following quote narrow's it down a bit..[but im quoting it because im still unsure about the question..[how does sickoes relate to bligh?

<<Could it be that those who actually have concerns about bad governance and resultant childhood onset leukemia end up having the same perplexing..‘server errors’,..‘net bombs’,and similar bugs that I’ve been copping the last few days?>>...

...i think the reply is everyone is..[i know i am..its getting so i know clicking the topic reply from my mail box..inevitably will get the error reported message..[ditto re posting]

but i feel i still havnt got a handle on the question..[maybe more link's would help?]

<<anyway why not take my humble advice and look at –
http://www.ejfi.org/Civilization/Civilization-14.htm
Makes sense to me!..>>..yeah me too...[now what about it?]..is that the questrion...[in all sincerity]

there are so many sickoes we need to narrow down which ones we dis-cussing...any clues on whats causing this leucimia outbreak[electrical radiation//?..[microwaves from the phone towers?,poor diet?,underlying infections from all the compulsory..vacinations..no thats causing alts-heimers symptoms in kids..[from the mercury preservitive in the shots]

id love to talk about water privitisation..[or selling off power..ha ha..for cheaper power..yet 3 increases in the price of power..lol..[or even the one level of state govt in qld..[but its your topic,..i need a clue what were discussing

Hello ‘One Under God”,
This blog has a contributor’s list – correct?
Top left side – click on ‘users’
Some of my contributions you can find listed there relate to what has happened in my district –
A very necessary project – the upgrade of power in town.
It’s a major project and therefore on paper followed the planning format usual for major public works.
Stakeholders, affected persons, landholders to be contacted and advised prior to and during project – that sort of thing.

But here in my home town they don’t do things the same way as they do in the rest of OZ.
In my town it ain’t transparency in governance – its opacity, misinformation and collusion.
In my town they don’t let you know they’re going to bury three bloody great 11,000 volt cables just under your bedroom window until mid Thursday afternoon with an intended Monday morning start.

Faced with that startling news I contacted Both Minister and shadow minister, our mayor and googled all weekend for advice and technical papers about high voltage, non-ionising radiation and resultant health deficits.
What I discovered was very bad news for us.
Meanwhile I’ve discovered that the electrical utility has been given leave by our ever vigilant local government to plonk down an electrical sub-station just a few metres down the road.
Now that would be fine except it is shoehorned tightly between two pre-existing locations, a children’s playground on one side and a scout’s meeting hall on the other.
While thinking about that I discovered all the information about the nature of emissions from these installations – childhood onset leukemia and a host more.

Not only was the project conducted in a sneaky, underhanded way but signed off and approved by elected councilors who were either uninformed or criminally irresponsible.

Now do you understand?

well clearly your efforts would best be rewarded by informing the parents with kids in the scout hall[and childminding center]..to do a protest on monday..to prevent the process by weight of numbers

maybe you could have coordinated media..[got it in fridays papers [and sundays by organising a photo op..with a few banners and a few supporters

also should maybe have filed an apeal with the courts for a stop work order..

maybe should have spent time writing what you know simply..into a mail box drop..[via a leaflet]to garner support...its not your fault that you dont know what to do

[but i dont know about buttons..still havnt used it..but do know this is the first i heard it put clearly,..anyhow you have 3 days to get at least 20 local people concerned enough about it..before monday]

simply put the facts simply..[them cables going to be running past a lot of homes...if you do your job they will help on monday

maybe get a lawyer to put a lien on the electrical agencies property for future damages[they hate liens, stops them using the asset for credit and complicates their balance sheet

for some reason hitch-hikers guide to the universe comes to mind[the plans must have been on display somewhere]

Forgive me Bucko -
A beautiful conventional response, your's.
But why the Dickens would I be bothering anyone here if your straight arrow ideas worked.
I've been there and tried all that crap.
It doesn't work - perhaps for the simple reason that those strategies no longer work in our failed democracy.

Furthermore please stop diverting the thread.

Dear O.U.G.,
I find your response profoundly interesting.
I raise an issue of public interest the other day; and then, in the course of events, merely acknowledge your reply by informing you that conventional strategies (that you mentioned, and I had already tried) have not worked.
I expressed that in the vernacular for the good reason that speaking 'modern English’ seems to go over the head of many correspondents.

I have asked anyone who might access these pages to look at my recent comments in order that they might find the common thread.

I contend that I found something on Mr. Loewenstein’s pages that confounds belief.
That is the hate sent him in response to his being a reasonable person doing his best to speak his opinion.

In no way different from Antony I’m trying to bring my poor knowledge to the public domain at a time when the rest of the media have closed ranks and refuse to publish fact about some forefront public issues.

It reaches the stage where a reasonable person would question why a certain few keep diverting the fair discussion of topics on this forum.
Is it that those who keep replying are nothing other than disputative and societally disconnected personalities or, as some might begin to believe is there some other agenda motivating your remarkably inconsistent behaviour?

To put it another way and to badly paraphrase Churchill – why is it that so few keep stuffing up the concerns of so many, so often?
Are some of you, perhaps, being paid?

Oh my lord, Graham the jig is up my man.

Non-Farmer in your wisdom you have discovered the truth and I lay my confession at you clean non-farming feet.

Graham hired not one but a team of us (I refuse to name my team members even under threat of pain and death).

We were hired to distract fools. Yes you were right, paid fool distracters.

We were doing a special this month and Graham was only paying for the first 13 fools of the month and we would distract the remaining 3000 for free.

As per agreement Graham, because we rushed it and became too obvious we will return to you your deposit…

Where would you like the wheelbarrow full of potatoes sent?

Well, I suppose there it is.
Try as I might any issue on this turnout and what unfolds?

Push the envelope and what arises is abuse and hate from a nasty core of ‘regular’ contributors.
Keep it meek and mild; no problemo.

Start speaking truth and get shouted down, Pronto!
Does some covert agency here in Oz. employ professional ‘Naysayers’ to manage this activity?

This is a ‘Best practice’ domain, is it?
Free thought, free speech – open to all?
Then why don’t the remarkable number of A toZ contributors listed put up their say?

That lack of response makes no statistical sense whatsoever.

And the salient point about no other contributors being evident – might be caused by mere apathy on the part of the ‘populace’ – or simply contributors having their say censored – or -

Anyway, the last few days I’ve noticed a few comments arising from a very few ‘pen-names’ bouncing about from one attitude to the other.

I’ve read from “Mein Kamph” to “Das Kapital” – while dallying in my seventeenth year with “The Female Eunuch” soon followed by “The Kinsey Report”.

Oh I believe there was once a time in my youth when some small amount of literature was available permitting a youngster some sense of real values and what made people ‘tick’ back then in a more liberal age.

OOOOOH Dear,
Where does this lead?
That’s right.
Some God botherer, in reply, pretending some semblance of intellect.
Some one of those who wants to escalate some haywired, off planet agenda of their own while simultaneously scragging genteel discourse.

That’s no great problem.
Should I start a new thread, ‘nutter’s corner’ just for those few?

If my poor efforts are so utterly featherbrained then may I refer the replies of the utter crackpots to “Nutter’s Corner” and leave the rest of the show to the intellectually advantaged?
Sheesh!
