I would be wondering if anybody, using this forum service, would know details of where i could find the distribution, towards the states and policies, of the federal government revenue they make from petrol excise tax.

My understanding was that theoretically, petrol tax is supposed to go towards the roads (and possibly pollution and so on from driving cars?). Wouldn't it then be a matter of checking how much is taxed and how much is actually spent in these areas? I bet the two figures are nowhere near identical and a lot gets bled off into other completely irrelevant areas.

Something that annoys me is the way car registrations and transfer fees work. Where exactly does this money go, and why does it cost more money to transfer two different cars of different values? Surely the paperwork/bureaucratic time is the same. On a different topic, the same can be said of any sort of property taxes such as stamp duty. It all seems extremely disingenuous to me.
