Why do you have to fill out your racial ancestry every time you fill out a form?.

Wouldn't it be great if it didn't matter?.

It doesn't matter: it's just a hangover from a distant age in which it did, much like feminism.

Sometimes government forms include it to ensure that the applicant is aware of some of the programs that they may be able to access under a migrant or Indigenous program.

Of course, it does not matter in a general sense.

Dear StG,

I think it does matter. The more information that
we provide about ourselves, for example, in the Census statistics -
the more becomes known about us, our personal
identity and our national identity. The mistakes that were
made, and how to correct them. It's all relevant.

For example, Who makes up the population of Australia today?
What is our national heritage. Has the image changed or not,
and why. The study of history is important - to see how
people lived, what they thought about themselves and
their world, and how they solved their problems - and who
they were.

Filling out information about race is part and parcel
of who we are. It doesn't have to be about racial
discrimination - It should be simply about providing
information.

The racial profiling laws are an example ‘do what I say not what I do’.

When you fill out a form and it asks ‘are you of this or that racial background?’, it’s because there are certain govt programs & benefits which are only open to you if you’re a member of one or other ethnic groups.

The proposition is that some groups need more support because they have a disproportionate number of disadvantaged persons : racial profiling!

A proactive approach to disadvantage.

Note, they are not approaching the issue on an individual case by case basis, since if they were, they wouldn’t need to ask the colour of your mother or father – they’d simply ask you to declare your income & assets?

On the other hand, when a private service provider, who may have previously been the victim of crime, or, who is aware of the statistics , identifies that s/he is more likely to suffer at the hands of a particular ethnic group and therefore subjects them to greater scrutiny: racial profiling!(and a proactive approach to crime)

S/he is deemed to be out of bounds and liable to prosecution.

Each of the above stands can be justified by reference to statistics – but only the govt is able do it openly.

How else can the social engineers do their 'positive' discrimination. Ever tried getting a job with ATSIC before it self destructed or Women's Affairs if you are a male. This data is necessary to allow lobby groups to continue on with their victim mentalities. Often it is an excuse to give less competent people the job.
