Buying Christmas presents has been described as:

Spending money we can't afford,
Buying things which no-one wants,
For people we don't even like.

[Don't shoot me over this, I'm just the messenger LOL.]

But what do we think about it?

I love buying christmas presents - I spend ages thinking about what someone might like, hunting it down, umm'ing and ahh'ing about colour, shape, style etc. I love wrapping the gifts beautifully, and I spend ages making elaborate cards.

Although it can be a bit much at times (and stressing about whether or not to buy a gift for co-workers etc is never fun), I think christmas gifts can be fantastic, for both giver and reciever.

And it may be a weird self-indulgance, but I often get the most pleasure out of buying a gift for the 'wishing tree' at kmart or target or whereever
