I can't help thinking, that a powerfull man, in Brisbane, Politician, or Department executive, was heard to say, "I don't care if its a chimpansee, in a white coat, get something we can call doctors up there".

And so, poor old Bundaberg got Patel.
He was a lousy doctor, with an exaggerated oppinion of his ability, but there are plenty of them in our public health system.

It was not Patel who covered up his incompetence, he was not in a possition to do so.

It was not Patel who "deemed" him a specialist, & promoted him.

It was not Patel who extended his contract, or rehired him, so he could kill more Bundaberg people.

And it was not Patel who paid, quicktime, for a ticket to get him out of the country, when it hit the fan.

If there was any criminal behavior, as distinct from gross negligence & complete incompetence, it was the hospital management, probably following instructions from the Health Dept senior management, at the behest of their political masters, where it occured.

I can understand that those who suffered under his hand may hate him, but its those who held his leash that they should hold responsible

Too damn true;

But as with the New-Managerialsim this country is experiencing, will porper justice be dispensed. I doubt it. The witch-hunt will look for the lower levels of supervison/skilled worker martyrs.

Anyone would know these days, that a "Manager' is inscrupulous and unacountable. No matter how bad they actually are. And for sure, the almighty Unions, who would have been right there in the operating rooms, and in the supervisors pockets, are just as un-accountable.

And the reason is for little more than because they simply exist. When this country starts to wake up to what we are doing to ourselves, the better of we will be.

it was during the 1988 qld labor government & a certain health minister that won the election under the promise to stamp out corruption when qld health changed from being a service to the public into a public funded career facility for bureaucrats. why doesn't the media get realistic and chase up some of the incompetent maggots who are allowed to get fat with impunity & drag a whole system down to their low level.
