Scarborough, Forwards or Backwards?

On the flip-side of popular opinion, hanging onto the past is a ridiculous concept. Yes, the Scarborough that was is no more. Let it go, enjoy the memories but the year is 2009. If you prefer greasy burgers and chips, burnouts and old run down buildings try moving to one of the more troubled suburbs heading east.
Scarborough needs to move forward. From its eye-sore Observation City, pathetic and soulless Scarborough markets, the boarded up venues at the heart of the precinct (namely the 'Look-out' and 'Club A'),the tired Luna Maxi Mart and an over-pass to a seemingly useless office space, convention centre thingy.
The thought that the 'Save Our Sunsets' action group is trying to stifle development and investment dollars is completely backwards thinking. Don't get me wrong I love the icons and traditions of Scarborough. Indi Bar, Uncle Gino's, Scarborough Pizza, Stamford and on. Couldn't we bring back a version of the 'Snake Pit' that I've heard so much about. But stopping development for the sake of a handful of houses from Pearl Parade to Brighton Rd losing a view, most of which are already obstructed, the majority of which are commercial premises anyway.
Most of Scarborough doesn't live on the foreshore. There is a suburb behind the highway. One which would welcome investment, growth and diversity in areas earmarked for restaurants, pubs, cafes and a range of shops. Bringing with it a vibrant social scene, jobs and a way forward. Or do we return to the good old days of watching bogans pulling burn-outs in the lower car park whilst shovelling in greasy burgers as we listen out for the sirens of the approaching local constabulary. It's your choice Scarborough.

I wish some people would give a little thought to their posts.

From the above post it could seem that it refers to a place, but where?

Google comes up with a place in Yorkshire UK, another in Canada and another in USA.

So where is it and what are you saying?

I wondered too I thought Simon and Garfunkle song, given he's on about fairs. In which case I agree the the Gregorian version is better :-)
