Gas as opposed to petrol is possibly an improvement, but have you noticed how vehicles in collisions sometimes explode into flames ?

This happens because vehicles are easily crushed these days with only a plastic skin covering them, also bumber bars are also virtually plastic and provide no protection.

The best and potentially the cheapest fuel is water.
A Rocket ship can complete a circut of the earth in 90 minutes.
What does it run on ? Water.
Or more specifically the components of water.
Pure hydrogen is burned in pure oxygen.

In our normal fuels, we burn a weak type of hydrogen (petrol or gas) in a weak mixture of air.
So you get limited power.
But by using rocket fuel (the two components of water, you get super power ! and potentially so cheap.
Remember that three quarters of the earth is covered in water.

Ah yes poetic but there is always a but;

It is not very efficient in overall energy consumption because of the
energy needed to separate the water into H & O.
The compression of the gas and the high pressure tanks needed all add
up to a not very good system.
Then there are the distribution problems.
It would require four times as many road tankers to deliver the gas to
service stations compared to petrol. Also a very large boot is required
for the tank for a reasonable range.
Also you cannot park hydrogen vehicles in underground car parks.
Hydrogen powered buses require especially modified sheds.
It is very unlikely that cars will be manufactured to run on hydrogen.
Incidentally I read somewhere where the cost of outfitting all the
service stations in the US would cost more than the money available.
It would bankrupt the industry.
