Recently, I changed by plan concerning satellite broadband and increased my usage rate by, in round figures, $30 from a previous, again round figures, $70.
THe day on which the change was effected was 6 days into the new period (Monthly).
The next bill had me charged $170 ($100 + $70) (round figures) which meant I had been charged a full month at the rate of $70 as well as the new charge of $100 - which meant I was to pay $70 for 6 days service.
Telstra admitted that it was their mistake and corrected the balance.
Here is the bit of interest to Telstra users - there is no provision for a pro-rata charge - well at least with satellite service broadband. Both service officers I spoke to admitted this fact and when I asked how other customers got on there was a silence.
Both ACCC and the TIO don't want to know as they claim Telstra has corrected this particular incident. So - check those bills.
