I've got to admit, I think you're right.

I find it very disheartening.

I was raised as a Catholic.

I still find comfort sitting quietly in
church by myself. Lighting a candle, and saying
a prayer for deceased family members.

I still enjoy the ritual of the Mass.

But, I don't go every Sunday - because
most Sunday Sermons - don't speak to me any more.

That's why I am curious about the Pope, like a

Our discussion brought to a screaming halt by a theologian!

My suggestion, spend a couple of months writing down our own meaning and purpose statement and your own ten 'commandments' for successful living. The statement and the 'commandments' will probably be a lot different than those that Moses wrote down 3000 years ago.

Moses was the bloke who came down from the mountain holding the 6th commandment in one hand while he slaughtered 3000 of his parishioners with the other.
