With all the continued hysterical speculation about future fuel prices emanating from every would be soothsayer, or publicity seeker, and witnessing no realistic action to deter or counteract this utter stupidy which is designed simply to panic the population and at the same time create an atmosphere of grudging acceptance of what could lie ahead for us all,....maybe it is time, in the light of the deafening silence issuing from the houses of Government, to help these poor, overworked, underpaid Politicians to share just a small part of this fuel pricing pain by removing them from the comfort of their taxpayer-funded chauffeur-driven limousines and make them step forth into the world of reality by (God forgive me!) making them drive their own vehicles and pay for their own fuel, which may, just may help them to understand the disasterous predicament that we the simple ordinary people are now being faced with!

Were this to be implemented, ( and I know that it in the eyes of the Pollies it would be "the end of civilization as we know it!" ) it would mean that the people in power who can do something about it, may just feel the sting enough to actually do something about it, even at the expense of sacrificing the windfall Fuel Excise Revenue!

Many ways can be utilized to give customers at the bowser a better deal: By jumpimg on fuel distributors who generally deliver their hot metal tanker-loads of fuel to the Service Station at the hottest time of the day, thus creating a shortfall to the Servo due to fuel expansion and contraction,....a cost that has to be passed on to the customer by way of increased price or "fiddled" bowser!

Regular checks should be carried out by Weights and Measures Inspectors to ensure that customers are getting what they are paying for!.....How long is it since you have seen a W.& M.Inspector checking anything?

Yes ,there is a lot of anger out there cuphandle.Much of this pain ws totally unnecessary.There has been a whole series of events which have pushed uo the price of oil.First was George Dubwooya and his Iraq fiasco,which had in reality decrease the supply of oil.This made the Arabs angry,so now they have got even.Hit us in the hip pocket.
Then we have the hedge funds and futures markets bidding up world oil prices in a frenzy of panic.Then we have the actual oil refineries being slow to increase refinery capacity.To top if off we have the AGW zealots telling us that it is good for the environment that prices continue to esclate.
We are being had.There is no shortage in the amount of crude oil.It has been manufactured.This is yet another way the big finance companies/banks in the US are making us pay for the sub-prime mortage debacle.

Yes of course our pollies should be required to set an example by increasing their own fossil-fuel-use efficiency. Most of them could do it so easily without being put out at all, because they are so profligate!

But I wouldn’t get hung up on small things like shortfalls of delivery at the servos. There are going to be small discrepancies all over the place. Everyone along the chain of supply is going to strive to see that they don’t lose out. So if they can, they’ll charge more than they need to, just to make sure that they aren’t on the losing side….and no doubt many of them will flutter with a bit of gouging if they can get away with it. All of this will increase the price for the consumer.

But it is all very minor in the bigger picture. And besides, at this point in time, slightly higher prices than we would otherwise have, generated by this sort of thing, are probably good as they help to increase the urgency of action being put into alternative fuels and technologies.
